We all know that the met a bunch of guest stars but what are some other characters that would have been nice for them to meet.
I think Will Shatner would have been funny, have Shaggy or Fred be diehard fans and keep calling him Captain Kirk.

LOL!! That would be awesome! xD William Shatner is the man. I could so picture Fred being a diehard fan for some reason.

Fred does seem like he'd make a good Trekkie Lenard Nemoy would be better since he's mainly only known as Spock and it anoyed him so much that he wrote a book "I am not Spock" which made fans mad so he wrote another book "I am Spock"
Another great one would be(though I think it was made after the series)Burt Reynolds, Smokey and the Bandit. Daphne fancying him, and Fred saying his car is nice but needs more flowers and what not Idk

If we're talking about characters they could've met in 1972 for the New Movies, The Mod Squad were still pretty popular and well-known by kids.
I'm sure they would've found the Mystery Machine pretty groovy!

William Shatner FTW!
I always thought a crossover with the X Files or Psych would be fun.

cross with the X files would be great! unfortunately it premiered in 93'. If they rebooted the new Scooby-doo movies. Don't know much about Psych but I'm sure that would have been nice too.

Well, for 1972 original movies, I also thought of Flip Wilson or Jerry Lewis, Peter Graves from Mission Impossible, the Osmonds or Jackson 5 only because they had cartoons of their own and would've made logical crossovers, the Partridge Family or Brady Bunch. Someone from Dark Shadows could've been pretty cool, but I'm not sure how many kids would've been familiar enough with them. I would add KISS but they didn't come out until 1974. If I ever had the chance to talk to the producers of The New Movies, I'd love to ask them who else they had in mind but couldn't get, and what guest stars almost happened but then fell through or didn't have time. And if there were any stars who asked to be on an episode but then couldn't for some reason. BTW, for a rebooted version I think Monk would be great. I could see something scary happening and Scooby jumping up in his arms. You know how he is about touching and animals. And not to mention Shaggy & Scooby's eating habits and crumbs lying around all over the place. And Shaggy's clothes being all messy. Would drive him nuts! He'd probably love Velma though. Mark

I always thought it would be kewl to have a crossover with the show Without a Trace. Unfortunately, that show was cancelled, but I could totally see the gang trying to help locate the missing person.
It would also be kewl to have a Law & Order type Scooby episode with the characters from Law & Order.
ahkyahnan, your idea of looking into what other guest stars could have appeared, were asked to appear or who dropped out, etc. is an awesome idea. It would be really kewl to know the answers to all of those questions.

Yeah that would've been. There's a Christmas Show where a bunch of the HB (I think) cartoon characters find an abandoned house and decorate it for Xmas, but a ghost tries to run them off and Casper tried to make them stay. It's pretty cute, and Scooby would've been a great addition.

It would also been cool to have episodes with Abbott and Costello, Andy Griffith, Jackie Gleason, and Sean Connery as James Bond on there as well.

Mark Back in 1972, The Osmonds, The Jackson Five, Jerry Lewis and the Brady Kids did have their own cartoon, but they were by other studios (Videocraft, Filmation) so a crossover with Scooby wouldn't have been feasible at the time. Then again Daffy Duck and Porky Pig appeared in a cartoon feature with Filmation's Groovie Goolies. And in 1997, The Mask (Film Roman) and Ace Ventura (Nelvana) did crossovers with each other, so who knows what could have happened? Now, Donny Osmond, having voiced himself in a couple of Johnny Bravo episodes, would have been a good guest star on What's New, Scooby Doo?, seeing as how they had Brett Hull, Mike Piazza, Simple Plan and KISS.

That would've been a good one.
Man, I can't believe this discussion was over two years ago. Seems more recent to me.
