yeah, it was trying to bridge out from where are you, by having guest stars show up addams family was a good one, as was the one with dick van dyke. I also like the one with cass Elliot and the candy shop..

I don't think this show holds up as well, mainly due to the hour long format... I think the main issue with the new hour long format was that they didn't put enough forethought and planning into creating a new 48 minute "episode formula" that flowed smoothly throughout the episode, before they began writing them. A longer Scooby tale is obviously possible as we've seen with the feature length movies, but you have to approach it upfront as a 90 minute feature or whatever, and plan/write your story accordingly. I get the feeling that the New Movies came together a bit more haphazardly, and they just pulled their existing 22 minute "episode formula" from SDWAY? and tried to figure out how to add 22 more minutes rather than start from scratch. So they just added a 2nd chase scene later in the ep, or had them running back and forth between the same locations and all, instead of forming a coherent storyline designed specifically to run 44+ minutes. Mind you I still love it, and it ranks up there with WAY? on my personal list. Mark

One of my favourite series. Even though the animation was cheaper then "Where are you" it had the good old feel that some of the later incarnations lost. It is true that some of the stories were dragged on, but i tend to like more longer and complexed mysteries (as much of you can get from a saturday morning cartoon so that wasn't a factor that i disliked. I will rate it a solid 10/10 just like "Where are you". 1 "Ghastly Ghostly Town" - 8/10 2 "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair" - 10/10 3 "Wednesday is Missing" - 10/10 4 "The Frickert Fracas" - 10/10 5 "Guess Who's Knott Coming to Dinner?" - 6/10 6 "A Good Medium is Rare" - 8/10 7 "Sandy Duncan's Jekyll and Hyde" - 7/10 8 "The Secret of Shark Island" - 10/10 9 "The Spooky Fog of Juneberry" - 9/10 10 "Scooby Doo Meets Laurel and Hardy (aka "The Ghost of Bigfoot")- 10/10 11 "The Ghost of the Red Baron" - 8/10 12 "The Ghostly Creep from the Deep" - 9/10 13 "The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall" - 10/10 14 "The Phantom of the Country Music Hall" - 8/10 15 "The Caped Crusader Caper" - 10/10 16 "The Lochness Mess" - 10/10 17 "The Mystery of Haunted Island" - 7/10 18 "The Haunted Showboat" - 9/10 19 "Scooby Doo meets Jeannie (aka "Mystery in Persia")- 7/10 20 "The Spirit Spooked Sports Show" - 8/10 21 "The Exterminator" - 9/10 22 "The Weird Winds of Winona" - 10/10 23 "The Haunted Candy Factory" - 8/10 24 "Scooby-Doo Meets Dick Van Dyke"(aka "The Haunted Carnival")- 8/10

I would give the series a seven out of ten. It was nice having hour-long mysteries that were pretty varied and all-out fun! Guest stars brought a unique aspect the the franchise. I just thought it was completely unnecessary to give seven episodes to the Globetrotters, Stooges, and batman and Robin. They were arguably the weaker episodes and guest stars. It would have been nice to have two episodes for The Pussycats or just other guest stars. This alone brought it down from a ten. Overall, it was a great incarnation for the franchise.

Those are some of my least favorites as well, though I do like the Globetrotter episodes for their locations/settings and subject matter. As I mentioned up above, I think this could have been an even better show if they’d planned out a new 44+ minute episode formula rather than, apparently, just tweaking the existing 22 minute formula. If you search through the older threads, there was another one where we suggested other guest stars that would’ve fit the show well, instead of duplicating these. There were some pretty interesting thoughts. Speaking of guest stars, did anyone like the Scooby clone “Goober and the Ghost Chasers”? It often featured the Partridge Family kids, Wilt Chamberlain, and maybe a few others. Mark

The length of the show was really nice, but it got kinda boring at times... Still, it was an amazing show, and I'm happy I have the Hanna-Barbera Golden Collection here! 7/10

Mark I enjoyed watching that. Btw, the other guest star that was featured in Goober and the Ghost Chasers was Michael Gray.

The Three Stooges were the worst and most boring episodes, with The Globetrotters not far behind. They were just weak guest stars. Their episodes could have gone to someone better. I also liked the one with The Addams family.

7, because of pacing problems (sometimes the gang wouldn't meet the actor or villain till halfway through the ep, most notably in the first Don Knotts appearance!) and the fact certain celebrities/characters were used more than once.

Probably a 7. I think the hour-long format hurt it a little. Edit: Whoops, realized I already posted in here
