I'm seeing in the news lately that there are studies that show that cartoon violence is making children more aggresive. Do you believe that cartoon violence has that much of an impact on children?

Funny you should bring this up. I was reading an article about this last night.
I think it depends on the kid really. I gre up watching Power Rangers and I turned out alright. I think shows like Scooby are harmless. Kids aren't gonna fight one another after watching Scooby Doo.
I don't watch Cartoon Network or Disney, so I can't really comment on today's shows.

I grew up watching Scooby, Tom & Jerry, The Jetsons, Voltron, The Transformers, The Muppet Show, etc...I don't think TV should be blamed for children being aggressive. I think kids are a product of their environment. If they see negative behavior, they will copy that behavior. So, if a child is in a household where they see their parents fighting all the time, of course they are going to be aggresive. If a child is raised in a household where the parents get a long well and they don't fight in front of them, then they won't be as aggressive. I think people want to blame the media so they don't have to take blame themselves. Now that someone wrote that cartoon violence is causing their children to be aggressive, parents will use that as an excuse. I think there is more to it than just cartoons and instead of blaming Scooby for causing aggression, we need to look a little deeper and find the true cause of the aggression. I'm done ranting now

I'm 31, scoobydooxx! Ancient! hehe
SpiderScooby, I did see the Transformers movie. It will never compare to the cartoon, but it wasn't bad. I used to love the noise they made in the cartoon when they transformed.

On the subject of cartoon violence, I think that if they are watching violent shows all of the time, I think that this definitely will have an impact. But, i agree with you SA. I suppose it depends on the shows, the frequency and the parents. P.S I'm Back! P.S I'm 15!

I never changed those...I should change them. I don't want to offend anyone, and I'm not so happy with the titles they use. I'll work on that

I think it also depends on what the parents let their kids watch. I mean, I've heard stories from people who saw parents and their kids in Friday The 13th and Watchmen, two movies kids shouldn't be watching in the first place.

Daniel, I'll look into a higher level for you. I still have a lot to learn about the admin part of the board. SpiderScooby, I agree that if kids are watching movies that have a lot of violence in them that they could have the tendancy to be violent. But I also think it's the parents responsibility to teach their kids the difference between reality and movies/tv. If kids know that what they see in movies and on tv is just acting and a form of entertainment and that the things they see are not good to do in reality, then maybe kids wouldn't be so aggressive. Just my opinion
