"I'm not sure. Let me check." Daphne said, as she opened the bag and looked for a shovel. "Yeah actually, there's a couple." Daphne continued, as she took out a shovel and handed it to Luna, then took one out for herself to start digging.

Fred I am not ziplining across ' Velma replied. you'll need to build a bridge of something so we can walk across. the last thing i ned is fall into a cold underground lake that looks like it wouldnt be out of place in the Hobbit. So i'll wait here until you get the walkway built. " mana had made it around the lake, her footwork from dancing all these years paying off for her. ' took the long way around looks like' mana smirkede. ' But I'm dry, nonetheless. Only slipped once, and just slightly at that. Dixies groups finally stopped at a narrowing of the cave, where a deep, but narrow chasm spread out in front of them. ' think we can jump it?" Eliza asked Dixie as she approached the esdge. ' i wouldnt risk it. last thing I want is to risk your parents rage if you got hurt. ' Dixie said.

Sybella took the twine to tie the boards down.
"Okay, got it, Scrappy." Sybella alerted, testing the boards to make sure they would stay in place. "It seems tight enough, but do we need anything else to make sure it's secure?"

Rock Island
"Why would somebody bury a crate full of old planks and boards?" Luna asked as she and the others peered into the now-unearthed and open crate.
"It's part of an old ship! Fred said, pulling one out to examine. "Still, I wonder how it got buried all the way here. It's not like anybody was sailing in this underground lake." He heard Velma replying and turned back to respond. "I'll be right over in the raft, Velma! And from the looks of it, we can most certainly make some kind of bridge from this little island to up ahead." He turned back to Luna, Daphne and the others. "Why don't you work with Phantasma to start stringing some lines over to the caves up ahead. I'll go pick up Velma and meet back soon."
Small Lake
"Looks good, Sybella!" Scrappy said as she flew down to tie up the boards as he set them in place. "Flim can help secure any loose boards once we meet up at the middle. We're just about there too."
Flim-Flam secured the last board he had. "That's all of mine! How are you guys doing, Scrappy?"
"Just about there! I think we'll even have some left over!" he replied.
Flim-Flam jumped on one of his boards to test it and fell through, as it cracked into pieces. He slowly pulled himself back up. "Yeah, hang onto those, Scrappy. Some of these old boards really aren't in great shape. We may need to use those to reinforce some of the weaker ones. In fact, maybe Sybella could check them for us, since she can fly if one breaks on her."
"Right-O, Flim!" Scrappy called out.
The Chasm
Dusk searched the area with her Maglite. "Could we use a rope to swing across? I can't think of any other way to get across." She paused and looked over at Hot Dog Water, who seemed to be deep in thought. "Any ideas, Marcie?"

Marcie was drawing a calculation in the dirt. " First, we'll need to measure the width of the ravine. To do that, we need a length of rope that we know the length of, say 30 feet. Tie a rock to one end , throw it across the ravine to the other side. Make sure you have it latch on to something so it doesn't fall off the cliff. Once the rope is tight, we measure the rope to the edge of the cliff. We then subtract that number from the full length, the difference is the width of the gap. From looking at it, this gap is at least 10 feet across. Unless you're an excellent long jumper or pole vaulter, you're not leaping over that gap." Marcie said

we can float across' Claudia said. " at least Creola, myself and Nora can. The rest of you, unfortunately, have to find another way. I mean, in theory , we could each carry one of you across, but it would be rather risky. we'd have to be solid enough to bear the weight of our passenger, yet not so solid that we are affected by gravity. Fine line to tread, and every spirit is different. Some can remain very solid and still float, others have to be very transparent. Truthfully I havent tested myself to see where I fall in that range, and I dont want to risk one of our group falling heavens only know how far down. " Dixie was sitting at the endge of the cliff and fiuddling with a rock. ' i'm going to drop this rock over the edge and calculate how deep it is by waiting for it to hit something, like a rock, or water. " Dixie pulled out her phone and set it for a counter app. she tossed the stone and started the countdown.

"I'll tie this string on the rocks here. Phantasma, think you can fly over to those caves and tie the other end?" Daphne asks the ghost girl.

Small Lake "And remember, if any of the boards feel loose as you're walking on them, tell me and I can fly you over to make sure everyone's safe." Sybella informed.
Rock Island "Well, we could try, but I can't really lift anyone for too long without them going right through me. Because I'm a ghost, y'know." Phantasma giggled. "It was a good suggestion though!"

Rock IslandFred rowed back to the island and dropped off Velma. "I can take the rope, Daph! Have any ideas on making sure a rope bridge is structurally sound, Velma?" Small LakeScrappy jumped from board to board, testing each one. Occasionally one would snap and Sybella would swoop in to save them. Flim-Flam followed with his glue compound. "Just a few more to test!" Scrappy said. "This sure is fun, huh?" Suddenly, the board Scrappy jumped on snapped as he started falling down toward the lake. The Chasm"Ghosts have it so easy..." Dusk complained. "I wish I could just drum so loud that rocks would fall and fill in the chasm," she said, sitting down and pulling out a pair of drum sticks.

Dixie dropped the rock and waited for a sound to indicate it had hot water , or some"wthing below. after a full 10 seconds the sound of the rock hitting water reached her ear s ' thats really far down.' Dicxie said, getting up. ' probably300 feet , or more.

"Oh good point." Daphne said to Phantasma, with a laugh in her voice. "Great Fred!" She told Fred when he got back.

The Chasm
Dusk grew bored of practicing a drum cadence on a rock, and walked to the wall of the cave to the right of the chasm. "I wonder..." she said, doing a drumroll on the wall and slowly walking to the right, listening for any change in tone. If the wall held any secrets, it would sound different at some point.

"This one seems secure to me. I think that was the last one, too." Sybella informed the others.

Rock Island Fred tied the rope once he reached land. "We're good on my end!" he called out across the water.
Small Lake "I think that's about it," Flim-Flam said, wiping sweat from his forehead.
"Yeah, it seems sturdy. Anybody else who comes this way will have no trouble crossing now. Who knows, it might really come in handy if we meet a scary, mean old ghost!" Scrappy said.
"Yeah, well... this place is spooky enough without the thought of monsters or phantoms..." Flim-Flam said, digging into his suitcase. "Anybody want a snack? I brought a couple things. All tested. Nothing experimental!" he laughed.

Rock Island "Great Fred! I've tied a couple other strings to the rock over here, so head back to get them and tie the other ends!" Daphne called to him, as finished tying a third string.
