yeah, you need to give value to a rank. otherwise each poster might have a different value set for Fred, or Shaggy.
It's a bit more complicated than that. ProBoards (the domain that hosts this board) has their ranks set up on all their forums in a way that only allows one rank (i.e. Daphne) for one value (i.e. 1700). Even if we wanted to have people have different values for different ranks (i.e. one person picks Daphne to be 1300 and another person picks Daphne to be at 1700), it couldn't happen because ProBoards has their system set up to only allow one universal rank for each value (meaning it's not possible for someone to have Daphne at 1700 and a different person to have Fred at 1700). Hope that makes more sense, I can try to clarify further if needed.

No, it makes perfect sense. the board set up prohibits setting more than 1 rank, per value,. you kinda sorta get around that by having more than 1 character share the same value. ie Shaggy and Scooby, or Ma and pa Doo.
(2500th post) Well I'm now reached Scooby, which is the highest, non-admin level you can get , under the current system. now, all of the sudden i have the strange urge to stuff my face with all sorts of food.

i have an suggestion to tie into the ranks. once you reach a certain level there should be an image of the character whose level you are at in your posts- say Scooby Dee or Dixie Doo- and which changes as you rise through the ranks. i don;t know if that is possible to pull off , but I think it would be cool to do something like that
