Circle Backward is a favorite, from the Live action 2nd movie. There is something about that opening guitar that makes me weak against the song. It was playing when the gang is being hunted down, having the two turn on them due to the journalist turning the against the Gang. Fred is grumpy, since he felt like he was being weak, and Shaggy and Scooby were sulking since they felt like it was their screw up.
Also right after the short flashback scene and most of the gang figure out how to take out the monsters... There is a small little snippit of a song, also by Mark Provart called "Monsters" Which I have been stalking for years and have no clue if there is a full song of it. But here are the small bit of lyrics which I love.
Here I go, it's time to show, I'm not a loser All the careless, bitter things you said. Like monsters in my head, All the words I heard you say, I could have turned and walked the other way, But I stuck around. Ill never never quit cause theres nothing to it, Ill never never quit cause theres nothing to it, Ill never never quit cause I can do it
Also the traveling song from Scooby the Musical is a fun, and bouncy romp. "No More Monsters" It's another instance that shows how close the gang are, as they sing together in the car as they drive. And specifically Velma is driving, which isn't as common as the others. (Though man, she drives scary. Going off the road and on rickety bridges. Though pretty standard for the poor mystery Machine XD) But they are so enjoying being with one another in that song, and it shows. So cute.
So sure, I love Terror time, other Hex girls songs and such. But these others are also alot of fun and catchy.

Ah, true. I don't think you really NEED to see them per say, since in the blog she does an overview of them all. But yeah, it's nice that it makes reference and uses old bad guys from the past. I did appreciate that they did that. Since well, there are a lot of probably unhappy villains over the years being put behind bars by "those meddling kids" XD I wonder if there are any who have seen the error of their ways and have forgiven the gang for busting them. I would think there are some. I mean there are a LOT of bad guys they have put away, so there has to be some in that number. Though some did commit some of their acts for good reasons, like a few villains in WNSD series. Knowing at least there was the two kids in Wrestle maniacs that just wanted to stop their dad. So I bet there are some like that. Also the town of Oakhaven for perpetrating the Ghost of Sarah Ravencroft. Also, well, Velma was Cleopatra XD. Though I doubt the Treasure hunters she was up against, would have been so quick to leave their thieving ways behind. Well, at least their leader. Lackeys are easier to convert, I would think.

Frankencreepy uses culprits from 4 classic episodes. The first Redbeard episode, The phantom shadows episode, the mamba wamba episode and the old iron face episode. Ah, true. I don't think you really NEED to see them per say, since in the blog she does an overview of them all. But yeah, it's nice that it makes reference and uses old bad guys from the past. Legend of the Vampire, is one of my favorites along with Witches Ghost.
But the main reason why I love it, is the montage of the Gang going through the outback and really enjoying eachothers company. It's a small section of the film, but it really shows the gang hanging out, and having fun together. Tossing a ball back and forth, having a picnic, and laughing at each other. Things, you figure if you spent most of your childhood, and teen years with a group of people. You either hate their guts, or have an unbreakable bond. And this shows how close they are. Which gives credit to the style of writing I personally use.
But the rest of the movie, actually has lots of small fan pokes, that they put in there for long time fans. Swapping Fred and Shaggy's outfits, making fun of being "Those Meddling Kids", and the sweet moment that Velma admitted that she was scared. Also a lot of the original voice actors returned for this movie, so It had the original Velma, Nichole Jaffee (from SDWAY and the reason Velma has glasses), The amazing Heather North (Rest your soul amazing lady) and possible return of Casey Kasam if he had still been gone at the time. (forgot which movie he returned back to the franchise in after the Burger King debockle.)
But overall a fun romp. And well, added Hex Girls as well!
Edit: How can I forget Velma in a feathered boa! And forced to sing in front of everyone! It was a small scene at the end, but I so see Fred and the rest of the gang loving to pull out that at family occasions to bug the heck out of their Brainac. Making her melt in a puddle of embarrassment. And the pride of her parents.

Witches Ghost, one of my favorites of the movies.
With Velma as my favorite out of all the characters, things with backstory for her I love to bits. And well, I'm with her. I probably would have fallen head over heels for Ben Ravencroft, and been caught off guard just the same. Ben is such a neat villain, being all manipulative and such. I love him as this impactful and yet... I think Velma would still pine for him, in the back of her mind and heart. Making her insecure with things she already was pretty shy about. And it builds more character depth.
I wish the ending had been better, though yay Hex girls. But I can understand that someone in the writing team was trying to do something through the story, and it ended the way it did. Though It did give such amazing sets of songs, and the Hex Girls to be able to come back in other incarnations.
I liked the false ghost angle of the story. Possibly being the first of all the 'villains' that ended up not some bad criminal. (remembering a few times in WNSD has monsters and baddies that might have a good reason, for doing bad things. Like Wrestlemanaics trying to stop their dad from hurting himself) They as a town, wanted to bring people to their failing town, and that was their solution. So it's possible that Witches Ghost set that precedent that would be used in several later series.

PNSD was my gateway Scooby verse, along with 13 Ghosts as an 80's kid. So it kinda was an interesting way to end up getting to know the franchise.
But as an adult, I enjoy the fact that Pup exists. Especially in my writing. Pup to me, is exaggerated because it's through the eyes of kids. So this is their imperfect memory of the crazy things that happen when they first started solving mysteries in their home town.
And I actually like the flaws that they gave most of the characters in pup. Though Shaggy and Scooby really didn't change much.
Fred, oh how I like dorky, alien loving, rumor monger Fred. His over active imagination and crazy machinations are great. He's a little kid, and that is how little kids think. So I like that he was a bit intense as a kid, which then helps play with him as an adult. Making sure he never puts his gang in danger again like that. And a bit afraid to be a bit more childish (unless the rest of the gang is joining in) because he was TOO childish as a kid. So when you look at Pup has backstory, and then see how he was as a teen in SDWAY, and then young adults in some DTV's. You get the current, in my stories, Fred. So it really gives his character a lot more to work with.
Daphne, the little perfect princess. While she didn't change much, they over exaggerated her love for fashion and not getting dirty. I like ts for later, because it shows how she might have been as a kid, to then teen in SDWAY while she still enjoys looking nice, but doesn't complain past the initial "My outfit" sulk and then moves on to solve the mystery. Because of her younger, self had to deal with constantly being put out of her comfort zone, by teen years, it's mostly habit that she complains. I mean, she still wants to look her best, but the mystery is more important.
Velma. Little blurry feets Velma. Her pup version is a favorite. Since she is all cute and quiet, but then can look majorly intense when she's on her skateboard. I loved the duality of it, and it showed that her personality ran deeper then the quiet side she showed most of the world. Also probably the influence with being friends with Shaggy and Fred. And I have seen young kids like her, who look at the world wide eyed, and want to figure out how everything works. I see young version of her, flicking on light switches on and off, just to figure out why it was getting dark and light, or poking electronics to see what did which. By teen years, she probably was just getting out of the "I take everything apart" stage, and was skilled enough to re-assembled and repair most things she took apart.
So yeah, looking at it as a stand alone, crazy Tex Avery style cartooning. With random silly chase scenes and goofy looking monsters. (And Red Herring <3) then yeah, I can understand being disappointing. But it's still fun bit of the franchise, and was great for kids. I am as much of a Scooby fan as I am, due to growing up with Pup coming out to watch, 13 ghosts coming out, and reruns of classic older Scoobys. So 5 year old me, loved Pup and still enjoys it today. I do prefer the core SDWAY alot better, but it's not a bad series. And like someone said, it's better then some other versions.

And well, Evil Velma is just so enjoyable. Because wow, she is pretty neat as a villainess (again) Even if she is well, don't want to spoil it. Then there's the really evil Velma from Scooby Apocalypse #10. I have now gotten my grubby little hands on 1 through 10 of Scooby Apocalypse, and I have been waiting for a perfect time to settle in and enjoy it. So Ooooo, looking foward to 10. Though I am not too surprised, as one of the covers of Ten, has Velma in a throne, with barbarian looking gear, and chains to the rest of the group. Sooooooo... really curious. No spoils yet. I want a fresh experience. this uisntb the first time Velma has been the villan " Remember wheres my Mummy? She was the Guy in the mask, for once Yeah, I knew that hence why I put a (again) after saying vilainess. XD Though RussM is true, Velma wasn't technically the evil badguy. She just seemed to be. She was the person in the mask, while the treasure hunters were he villains. You definitely shouldn't see it before seeing the four episodes it ties in with. There are episodes that tie into Frankecreepy? I didn't know that, but enjoyed it all the same. I am a bit behind on most of the series, since they don't really sit right with me. Though I really need to give them a shot, just as a fan. But it's hard. But overall, I just enjoyed this movie. It has flaws, it has issues, but it's still fun. And loads to watch when the day might have been long, or rough.

Sorry to bring this up, since it's an older movie at this point. But Frankencreepy is one of my guilty pleasures.
As a writer, I hate this movie. I have my heart set against other backstory elements and having Velma being from 'the old country' and such, doesn't fit with my preferred history.
But other then that, and a few small details. I love this movie! While I can never use it for my own works. I am so happy to watch it again and again for all sorts of reason. The beginning with the blogging videos makes me happy, since they are all sitting around the malt shop with laptops next to each other. Enjoying each others company but kinda doing their own thing. Like real friends do.
Also, this film really feels like it loves the Scooby verse, but isn't taking it self so seriously. I mean the ending... come on. It is so poking fun at itself. I love it.
And well, Evil Velma is just so enjoyable. Because wow, she is pretty neat as a villainess (again) Even if she is well, don't want to spoil it.
I do feel bad for Fred, since they kinda make him a bit of a weenie, but I think most writers have no clue how the write the man as he was original intended. (The straight man in comedy is less prevalent in TV tropes, or at least more toned down. So it's not as common compared to back in the 60's.)
And while some people freaked out about how Daphne looks, if you pay attention to the whole idea behind it. It's rather good message. But most people just look for things on the surface, and could use a suit on their own to learn the lesson.
And well, sappy cute ending that makes me happy. Over all a great romp, ignoring a few minor annoyances. But it was a lot of fun, and I recommend it to anyone who might like Scooby. Though not the best gateway Scooby film, as I would recommend others before this one. But still a nice entry into the Scooby verse as a DTV flick.

I always was in the Ohio camp myself. Though I thought there was more instances in the original SDWAY that supported it. But it's been a long time, and I would have to go back and look for them. Also, it always felt more like a more eastern/midwestern feel, for a lot of the areas they were in. Rather then on the coast. But maybe that is just me. And well, they did travel the world. Hard to narrow them down to a specific location if you just look at the mysteries. Though for more information about classic Mystery's Five stuff, Velmadinkley.com has this article about it. velmadinkley.com/old.htmlWhich includes original sketches! Showing Velma without her glasses and looking more like an art student and Fred with Red hair.

Greetings, My name is Toki (not my real name but rather I guess my pen name) and I am a shameless Scooby Doo Fanfiction writer. It has been a long time since I found myself in a place where I could discuss my love for the fandom freely, without getting strange looks, or general disinterest as it wasn't their thing. So I was hoping that here might be a nice place to settle down and talk some Scooby. I have been writing Scooby for 12 years now, (starting in Jan 2005) and have been hooked ever since. I specialize in Every day stories, and love to write character interactions and well... cute romantic fluff stories that will make your teeth rot at the cuteness. (or, well I try. Not sure how well it works) www.fanfiction.net/u/739744/Karianasan# (I hope this is ok, since it seemed like it's not on the list of type of links to avoid.) But here is my fanfiction link, for anyone interesting in a new writer to add to their Scooby collection. (ignoring RussM, who I noticed had a account on here, since we have been in the same circles for years, and we know of each others work. *waves* Hi!) As a person... I am a 33 year old lady, who is a special effects artist, Set decorator, and prop master for independent films and such. I work in 'the business' and have several works to my name, though nothing that is mainstream popular, yet. I often put my skills to work doing strange things that are called of me on set, and enjoying macgyvering what ever I can get my hands on, to get the shot at the end of the day. And have worked with several famous people, which still can be a bit mind blowing when I think back about it. But on set, its just another day at the 'office'. Otherwise, I'm a big kid, and love things like videogames, and cartoons. Drawing and creating things is a passion, and well... Making Scooby stories when my muse is up for cooperating. Nice to meet you all! *bows*
