Fred (the earlier smarter version of him) - brains AND muscle in one would give him the edge.

The thing is they solve it as a team, with a few exceptions that is how the show is structured. Each is capable of solving things in their own way. It would be good to have an episode for each they they solved a mystery on their own or where the focus was on them.

I always liked the episodes where shaggy and Scooby solved mysteries by themselves. Makes more fun in my opinion.

Everyone in the gang has potential for this. Shaggy and Scooby are cowardly but are also the most brave out of the gang because of how they contribute. Daphne has the self-defense thing so she could handle herself. Plenty of people are already giving reasons for Velma and Fred so there's those too.

Scooby Dum! He hasn't been in many episodes and I liked him. It would be kewl if they brought him back to solve a mystery! Maybe Pericles could trap the gang, and Scooby Dum comes to their rescue! He's gotta solve the mystery to figure out where the gang is. If you had to rely on Scooby-Dum to save you, you'd be screwed. He wouldn't be able to solve a mystery on his own even if he was behind it. He's the least intelligent character to appear in any Hanna Barbera series. You'd have a better chance with Dynomutt who is also an idiot. Too bad the procedure that turned Dynomutt into a cyborg couldn't upgrade his IQ.
