I'm not sure I was able to tell the difference at first. It wasn't until I saw the credits role that I realized I didn't see Kasem's name. I noticed the change in Velma immediately on Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, but Shaggy doesn't sound any different, really. He sounds a little younger, but it's hard to find the right order of the episodes anyways, so I wasn't sure it wasn't just that I watched an earlier episode later.

kasem did the character for such a long time, that he made it iconic, but his shaggy was aging as the years went on - kasem was getting close to 70 after all- and so a new voice was needed Lilard has grown on me as Shaggy, hes got his feet under him in the character and its his as long as they keep making Scooby stuff.

Kasem is my favorite. But I love Lillard too! Lillard was awesome in the live action movies and is also in the cartoons. I hope he keeps the role for a long time!

There's no contest here, Casey Kasem IS Shaggy. He was just so natural for the role, and he worked wonders for the character until his retirement. I had no problem with him sounding "aged", as he was still identifiable as THE Shaggy. Scoot Innes was a very good replacement, he did the character justice during Kasem's absence. The same goes for Billy West during "Zombie Island". Mathew Lillard is...tolerable. I'd rather have Scott or Billy back. They suited the character much more.
