Hmm, I guess I didn't think they were that bland. However I definitely agree that the Revolutionary War ghost was the coolest - I presume you're talking about the redcoat one that said "go back" towards the beginning? The monster I thought were bland in those episodes was the one the crook dressed up as. For Ex. "The Mystery of Haunted Island" the crooks dressed up as hooded figures. Nothing to creepy or unique. Also the Spooky Fog episodes the crook dressed up as a skeleton. the redcoat ghost and minutemen ghost were my favorite. Honestly wished he had more of them and less of the Loch Ness monster in that episode. Ah, I see what you're saying now! I agree the Hooded Figures were a bit bland, but I never really minded the skeleton (however, I do agree he was not unique in the slightest). "The Loch Ness Mess" is actually my favorite episode of the entire franchise, so naturally I also love the Redcoat and Minuteman Ghosts! I also wish we had less of the Sea Serpent in that episode, though I must say he was designed very nicely.

The Harlem Globetrotters were one of my favorite guest from the entire series, Only complaint really was during the second half they started focusing more on the Loch Ness Monster and less of the Revolutionary Ghost. I felt the Loch Ness was just kinda random and thrown in there for the episode. Beside that one of my favorite.

Even if they were to keep the Loch Ness Monster in, I would have liked if they would have spaced out the villains more. Such as, have the Revolutionary Ghosts appear all throughout the episode along with the Loch Ness Monster, rather than sort of ignoring them for the second half until the end. From here and elsewhere, I've seen that a lot of people have said they hate the Harlem Globetrotter episodes, but honestly, I think they're some of the best episodes of the series. "The Mystery of Haunted Island" was really fun as well!

I thought most people loved those episodes, I also thought a lot of people liked this series as well. Look like I was wrong both times lol. I think with this series was that the first half goes really well and then the second half kinda loses steam. The writers probably had to find a way to show the gang interacting with the Loch Ness Monster. Personally, I would've gotten rid of the Loch Ness Monster and changed the name to something with the Revolutionary Ghost.

No, a lot of people don't like the Harlem Globetrotters episodes from what I've read on this forum and elsewhere. The series itself has mixed reactions. A common complaint I've seen is that there was too much time allotted for corny jokes and/or the guest stars overshadowed Fred, Daphne and Velma. Agreed! And the second half does lose a bit of steam, IMO, especially with "Mystery in Persia" featuring Jeannie and Babu. That was my least favorite episode of the series. They were trying to do too much at once with introducing real monsters and having the gang go to Persia and redeem the Sultan, etc. Didn't really work for me.

From what I've seen a lot of people feel that the show had a lot of scenes thrown in there to get to the hour long run time. This was probably the reason for the corny jokes. This is one of the reason why I'm not a huge fan of crossovers or guest star episodes. They usually overshadow the main characters and take the spotlight. For the most part I felt this series did it alright. There was a few episodes where I felt if you took the gang out not much would've changed. An episode that is guilty of this is the one with Speed Buggy. The gang were useless in that episode.
I actually have never seen "Mystery in Persia". I've seen all the episodes released on home media and a few that haven't been released, but there are still a few I haven't seen. Even with my dislike for crossovers and with all the problems this series had I still enjoy it and it one of my favorites.
