I think that's the major reason dvd managed to supplant vhs and why bluray never took over. The book and music industries are far an ahead of video these days by having a universal easy to handle digital file process (mp3, pdf) that makes the conversation much simple if you want a physical or digital copy.
Movies and tv shows had so many more humps with video quality, if you need to be online, how many computers can it be on, how times can you copy it, does it expire, etc. It's a barrier to the transition and sadly a major reason so many things are falling through the cracks. The streaming services producing so much content that isn't going out evenly to all formats isn't helping that divide either.
Also on a side note from the podcast DW said he was giving all the physical letters sent in to the podcast over to the WB vault. So that they can be preserved for historical significance, which means some of my writing is totally going to be in the WB vault. How fun haha.

Looks like WB bought the WBshop domain back from whomever snatched it up. It for now redirects back to WanrerBros.com.
Hilariously, the Cartoon Network Shop one is still for sale.

It's common practice for scalpers to try to quickly buy up domains that change in hopes they can basically ransom them back to whoever they were owned by.
This happens with twitter handles to, I know of plenty of times with bands, wrestlers, performers etc where they changed their handles to their new name and someone quickly scalped up the old name in hopes they can get them to pay for it back one day.
I don't think WB actually knew the company than ran the shop was just going to let it go up for sale like that. Given the name on the company now running DC Shop and what will probably be the entity you will be buying from on Amazon is still named after WBShop, i think that was an error on their part, and someone snatched up the opportunity for a quick pay day.

Some further info has been leaked in regards to Warner Archive. As apparently their pipeline is pretty long in advance, assuming everything comes out ready as planned. But i've heard different numbers but its more than one year in advance and less than two years in advance. So as of DW Feranti's exit we're probably not going to see a major change up in terms of releases for a while.
The in store and current show releases are decided on in much shorter timeframes.
George Feltenstein's status is still up in the air.
But I wouldn't expect too much of a distinct shakeup for a while in terms of what WHV and WA do unless AT&T needs to budget cut something out of the home video section, which outside of fearmongering by people who fearmonger every week, i'm not seen much evidence to support they are there yet.

I've been away for personal reasons but yes it appears WB did sign a new contract with a third party for a new WBshop. Notice it also now directly advertizes the HBo Shop, TCM Shop and DC Shop as sibling sites. So I imagine those are all staying in existence.
One of the most shocking things though is that when they choose what brands to start this shop with, they chose 4 animation ones and the Looney Tunes wasn't one of them. In 2021 are Animanaics and Ricky and Morty really making them more money then the Looney Tunes?

Rick and Morty even has a D&D/Hasbro license. It seems to be pulling in a lot. I was more of a Final Space guy, myself.

I didn't mean that comment in a negative light against any of those shows. But here we've been candid that despite Looney Tunes being WB's homegrown animation characters they haven't been their top seller for a long time. We've known Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, Batman and Superman are doing better in general.
However if brands like Animanaics and Rick and Morty now have joined that list, i'd say it's no longer a hopeless fantasy other DC and HB brands might be able to rise above them too.

Not worth making a new thread about but for the future, I recommend using the ShopTCM site for checking the next months of Warner Archive releases. The Bluray people are skipping over the dvd releases, and if we were to get more Hanna Barbera or Ruby Spears releases, they might be lost in the shuffle.
For example there's one dvd release this month, it's also a movie that is making its disc debut but for right now it's an exclusive to ShopTCM. It will be on Amazon too later.
Next month also appears a new to disc movie is coming out on bluray and dvd at the same time, along with a documentary on dvd.
I'd say it's pretty obvious Matt Patterson and DW Feranti were the ones running the twitter and youtube pages given they have gotten less active with them gone. The facebook page however is still active, whoever runs that one is clearly still at WHV.

Looks like one thing we had been waiting on finally dropped. Warner is planning to put a bunch more of the out or print Adult Swim dvds back in print more than likely via the MOD route.
Remember that pre-AT&T Turner always called the shots on how the Cartoon Network Studios or Adult Swim shows could get released. I expected at some point the legal would clear and Warner Home Video/Warner Archive would put out some releases to signal this. Pretty sure this is that.
Mind you kind of telling the first matter of business is to re-release classic Adult Swim shows that already were on dvd versus finishing out Cartoon Network Studios shows. Or I suppose putting them on bluray for that matter.
Also to everyone on other sites that will remain un-named that were fear mongering WB (the most disc friendly studio) was totally planning on pulling the plug on home media next year. I just laugh. XD

Apparently everybody get used to the acronym SDS for the future. This stands for Studio Distribution System and it's the name of the joint venture set up by Warner and Universal to work together on home media releases. I expect you will probably see this logo on most Warner and Universal releases in the long term. I would imagine this new venture and the switching more things over to MOD were the in theory reason for the home media division was seen as something you could shed a lot of employees from in AT&T's eyes. Discovery titles are probably going to be in on this at some point as well.
But yes also for the doom and gloomers WB announced several more dvds this week.

Gonna name drop some non animation related things here just to illustrate how confusing some of this stuff is in the present form.
We're moving faster than I thought. A Discovery+ original (Resurrection) is coming to disc from SDS. For right now Amazon and TCM Shop are only listing a bluray for it. That might mean the dvd is exclusive to somewhere.
This is something they have done off and on. As like right now last month they released They Won't Believe Me as an archive title on bluray everywhere but the DVD is right now still exclusive to TCM Shop. Amazon made a link they won't get that version until July 13th.
TCM Shop had a dvd version of Guns For San Sebastian which is being released this month alongside a bluray but it got deleted. It's not up on Amazon either. I take it it's exclusive to some other site.
This month they also put the HBo mini series I know this much is true was put on dvd as an archive release. it's available at Amazon, but for some reason isn't up on Shop TCM. Is this an Amazon exclusive or is TCM Shop not aware of this?
