Or even this month. Thursday is the exact golden Anniversary of everyone's universal reruns (or one of the earliest sitcoms if you were around during the original run)...The Brady Bunch.
This is also the first time in a long time that the living cast has all been together...and they're remaking the actual house to match their stage on HGTV...as per usual though...Mike Lookinland and Susan Olsen seem to be the only ones still having any real fun with anything Brady related....Susan would even like to have Cindy be involved in a mystery for once.
Any fun memories of watching the show?

The Brady Bunch show is cute and deserves its following. The two Brady Bunch movies are the funniest comedies ever made. We wouldn't have gotten James Gunn's Scooby without them.

Yeah, those parody movies can be interesting, especially the way they dealt with Jan's jealousy of Marcia...the late Florence Henderson (who is from my original home state even though I relocated since to a much larger state) shaking the tar out of her and telling her in as salty a way as possible to knock it off.
All due respects to the late Florence Henderson, Robert Reed, Ann B. Davis and Alan Melvin of course...too bad Sam never got around to modernizing that meat locker. You would think he would after Greg and Bobby got stuck.

What those movies understood and James Gunn didn't is that you should keep the characters the same and make the rest of the world meaner. Sure, Jan's a psycho and Greg & Marcia are hornier but the Bradys still represent the optimism of early 70s tv in a world that had left them behind. I wish that was the direction Gunn took instead of making everyone a jerk.

I can't speak for the movies, barely watched one years ago, but the reruns of the show were great when I was a kid. Was one of those multi-generational things back before the whole world went to Netflix and streaming - everybody grew up on the Brady Bunch! And Gilligan's Island, Bewitched, the Munsters, Happy Days...

And the renovation project on HGTV is almost complete. Just needs the master bedroom and the attic or rather basement pad now. This is going to be interesting to see what happens next after it's done. Maybe have it be a new show setting or museum...and of course we have to have the kids sing their themesong as they take the position on the floating staircase.
Now my memories...any time Bobby tried to do something and had it go horribly wrong...that was my favorite part, he was too smart for his own good...but he meant well.

Don't forget, Sesame Street, the longest-running educational TV program in history, is turning 50 this year as well. Though its anniversary occurs in November.
Unlike Scooby and Brady, Sesame Street has aired in first-run episodes non-stop for 50 years, though its future after Season 50 is uncertain considering the loss of viewership over the last few years.

1969 was also when Warner Bros. Animation closed, ending the original theatrical Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies run with 1,000 shorts, the final one being "Injun Trouble" starring Cool Cat. Fortunately, WBA reopened in 1980, otherwise who knows what else would've happened to Hanna-Barbera after Bill and Joe passed on?

Of course. Sesame Street is going to be 50 soon. Unfortunately I think that the loss of viewership had to do with 1. The channel hops in recent years 2. Reduction to 28 minutes instead of 48 minutes (gotta have room for funding) 3. Back when the turn of the millennium happened... Elmo's world went from being a Friday special (like animated credits originally) to half the show. Nothing against the little muppet, but was it necessary for every episode of the week? Should have given some other Muppets a featured segment at the end before time to go like they tried with the Journey to Ernie...too bad that backfired. To bad Arthur hasn't guest starred on Sesame Street (that I know of, that would be a major ratings booster now. The two longest running educational shows in history and all they'd need to do is do it the way Mr. Rogers did and vice versa)

I could see Hanna-Barbera becoming a part of Disney if WBA hadn't reopened. Disney's not afraid of taking risks...so maybe there would have been even more serious HB content at the time than just the big 4 Scooby films, Mystery Inc and the real adventures of Johnny Quest (too bad Quest never got his MOOC Animation dtv film...that would have been really cool to see.)

The producers of The Price is Right always try to keep the show current, and the formula works as the show has solid viewership. It did suffer a period of ratings problems during Drew Carey's roughly first 18 months on the show, but by April 2009, ratings likely rebounded in a big way, thanks to some drastic changes including the launch of a new female model which a lot of viewers seem to have a crush on, and likely attracted a surge of younger fans to the show. I personally think The Price is Right will have a longer run than Sesame Street will.

Yep, The Price is Right one of my favorite game shows. They really seem to be gearing up for the golden anniversary. I wonder what this season's new game is. Or maybe they'll bring something out of retirement...like Buy or Sell or even Penny Ante.

One other thing of note in terms of Price Models...Rachel is the Janice on set these days. That commands a lot of respect for her and older viewers who still watch the show. 16 years, she's about to break Diane's record in three, and in fourteen she would break Janice's record as longest Price Model. Both would be notable achievements.

Rachel has already surpassed Holly's longevity, but I don't know if the producers will want to keep Rachel when she's in her 40s. Besides, it seems as if, in recent years, Rachel's appearances seem to have been dwindling, implying she may be nearing the end of her run. It would make sense, as wage costs are likely mounting, and keeping a model on for a very extended period adds up wage costs. I can see the possibility of her being laid off in the coming years, or maybe she'll leave on her own terms, realizing she may be fired and possibly filing and losing a lawsuit (especially after two models sued during Drew's tenure and lost their cases - one of them outright lost in 2012, and the other likely paid a sum of money in settlement to the producers by 2016, though we will never know the truth about the latter (in both those cases, their discrimination claims were likely false, as the producers argued with solid proof to support their argument). I personally think the terminations of those two models was likely due to budget cuts and not due to pregnancy and weight gain. One model who was fired (she was pregnant with twins, which may have been a contract violation at the time), was replaced by a better and much younger model who has attracted millions of viewers, ratings skyrocketing and generating massive revenue since her debut in April 2009. And the truth? She became a crush of many of her fans, unlike her predecessor. That predecessor was just too old for the show, which explains why they argued they wanted replace her with someone even better in order to keep the show on top, and further on top at that. Had the predecessor not been fired, the show probably would have faced a speedy demise. As much as I liked her predecessor, but if the replacement has been bringing in much better ratings, that's what counts.
And by the way, that replacement, who has been on the show for a decade last April, is currently on maternity leave, but she never had twins. So the chances of her returning to the show is pretty solid. I can imagine her returning to the studio for recordings as early as November, which is quickly approaching.
The show also seems to have a long-standing agenda that they want to replace models before they turn 40, as in the entertainment industry, a modeling career is usually over before 40 (typically, after age 30, but a game show model is a different story).

Here's usually the thing that keeps the older fanbase ratings secure, The Last Barker Beauty. The older fanbase tends to look at Rachel as their last remaining link to the Barker era (because even price isn't safe from some toxicity...you'd be surprised how toxic price fans can get...stay away from golden-road.net if you aren't already staying away) and those who can't keep up with the changes will likely go when she goes...because in their opinion "the show would be ruined".
I personally don't mind the changes...aside from the 80's levels of oversaturation of neon on the set, they should tone that down a bit...but that's a minor issue. It doesn't change the overall dynamic.
As for Rachel...when she goes...she should get the farewell she deserves just because she's the longest tenured and should be sent off properly...like they were supposed to do for Janice...but that never happened...and had offset issues not happened...I could have seen Janice staying up through season 35...because Janice was ”The Vanna" to Bob's ”Pat"...and I would think Rachel is considered as such to Drew...or maybe Amber.
