the promo art loks nothing like the 98 film, more goofy than scary.

I really really hope they don't try to say the zombies were fake. That was tired even before 13th Ghost came out, plus it misses the entire point of the original(that the gang discover the supernatural is, in fact, real).

uh is that a Red Shirt Shaggy sighting? It's soaked in the blood of zombies he's killed with his bare hands?

To me, I don't understand the point of making these sequel films if they're just going to completely disregard what happened in the original. All it's going to do is confuse younger viewers who don't know about the original film/series, and irritate the adult viewers who get the references. I could understand some discontinuities from the original film, but to just say "nope, it was all fake!" and make numerous blatant continuity errors just doesn't make sense to me.

My theory is that this is why they're using a different island instead of Moonscar

I mean, the original's tagline was "this time the monsters are real", and Daphne does state that "all the monsters and ghosts always turned out to be bad guys in a mask" in the beginning, but it wasn't the first, second or even third time the Gang had encountered the truly supernatural. It also wasn't the last, since every live-action movie has featured real monsters (the same case that people use for the Phantom Virus in Cyber Chase being real could be applied to Tobias Bloom from Daphne & Velma, as he's an A.I. hologram rather than a disguise), and every other animated movie nowadays features something real.

Even the coral creature from one of the What's New episodes was real, not a 'monster' but still a new creature.

Btw Elvira confirmed she will be on the movie on her twitter. I mean it’s in one of the screenshots of the website. Btw idk who she is tbh and why y’all are so hyped over her (I only know she was featured on a Halloween song by Kim Petras) but ye you’re finally gonna have her

Sort of a predecessor to Mystery Science Theater 3000 only her commentary was in segments and didn't run throughout the movie. It's actually kind of surprising she hasn't been on Scooby sooner since they both occupy a similiar space in chintzy comedy horror

Btw idk who she is tbh and why y’all are so hyped over her (I only know she was featured on a Halloween song by Kim Petras) but ye you’re finally gonna have her Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, played by Cassandra Peterson, was a sexy, gothic, witchy character who would host marathons of horror movies, and provide funny and oftentimes morbid commentary on them between commercial breaks. Cassandra Peterson also played Drella Diabolique (a parody/homage of Elvira) in LEGO Haunted Hollywood, and it's very likely she'll be debuting the mainstream continuity's version of the character in her brief cameo in this movie. Nocturna, Mistress of the Night (played by an actress named Sybil) is yet another homage to Elvira, appearing in Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? #38. The same issue also features Daphne on the cover, drawn very similar to the Elvira archetype. Evil Ella, from Scooby-Doo #83, is yet another homage to Elvira. If you've ever seen The Simpsons, Booberella is also an homage to Elvira (voiced by Tress MacNeille AKA Sarah Ravencroft). Count Shockula from A Pup Named Scooby-Doo's "Night of the Living Burger" is yet another homage/parody of this trope.

Oh, right. Forget about that. That would be a nice callback though she seems to be in her classic Elvira getup in the screenshot as opposed to Drella's design.
