Maybe they'll make a Playmobil Scooby movie like Lego did.

Huh. And to think that this was just released by LEGO: shop.lego.com/en-US/product/The-Flintstones-21316I would have thought that this meant LEGO still had a license agreement with Hanna-Barbera/Cartoon Network/Warners, although, they very well could have been negotiating per individual franchise - and have now given up the Scooby rights. Kinda bittersweet. I really loved those LEGO Scooby-Doo sets and it's sad to see them leave LEGO. I was holding out, hoping there'd be another line in the future. And, as much as I love Playmobile, that Shaggy design just doesn't look right to me. Scooby's perfect, though. I bet the rest of the gang would be similarly styled to Shaggy, though, which is a shame...

Just because PlayMobil got a licensing deal to produce Scooby toys doesn't mean Lego lost their right to make Scooby toys. Unless I'm wrong about the toy industry, which I could be, multiple companies can have different licenses to produce toys of the same franchise. After all, there were non-Lego Batman toys and action figures made while Lego was making Lego Batman playsets. So it's a little early to assume there'll be no more Scooby Lego stuff just because of this deal, unless there's some other news I'm unaware of saying Lego is through with Scooby Doo.

I know this has been the case with Fisher-Price's Imaginext and Diamond Select's Minimates (both of which produce DC and Marvel toys alongside LEGO). But LEGO and Mega Construx (formerly Mega Blox) are direct competitors? and haven't ever both produced sets with the same license at the same time - they've hot potatoed Spider-Man, TMNT, and Spongebob. I would have placed PlayMobil in that same boat, however perhaps not. They very well could both have separate licenses. And if that's the case - the more Scooby, the better!

I can see the case with Lego and Mega Construx, since they're pretty similar, but I think PlayMobil being non-build-y is different enough there shouldn't be that problem, despite also doing the whole playset thing. But don't quote me on that, I obviously don't know the inner workings or thinking of such companies.
