In an Instagram post, Tony Cervone directed followers to the first image of what Scooby-Doo will look like in the film, in a teaser for a French film event this summer. I gotta say, I love the depiction. No goofy redesign, just a fleshed out, detailed CG rendering. www.annecy.org/programme/fiche:rdv-200001501265

This looks great and also I will translate the plot for you:
“In its first (animated) feature destined for the big screen, Scooby-Doo is the hero of his own story. This adventure reveals how he and his best friend Shaggy became two of the world’s most appreciated crime solvers. It brings us back to the time where everything began, when Scooby and Shaggy, still young at the time, met up and got together with Daphne, Velma and Fred to inaugurate the Mystery Incorporated”
So another roots story but it looks like it’s gonna be a quality one tbh. Also probably the Hanna Barbara characters won’t play that much of a big role other than sidekicks to defeat Dastardly. Overall it sounds promising and the design looks very cute, I can’t wait

Scooby looks perfect here! I think the rest of the gang will look like CGI versions of their classic designs too.

If the other HB characters are background characters/sidekicks, I can get on board with that. As long as the main focus is on the gang.

WOW! I'm really impressed by how great he looks! They nailed It! Can't wait to see the rest of the gang and the other H-B characters. Here's a design comparison of Scoob from SDWAY.

So we have CGI that doesn't look like CGI... What a time to be alive!
It does look good, but this is a static image, the real proof of WB's CGI chops will be when the characters are in motion.

I will be boycotting this Hanna Barbera movie (and the upcoming SpongeBob movie) cause I hate how CGI has completely taken over the movie industry to the point where franchises which are usually 2D animated are forced to get the CGI treatment. I won't be surprised if Space Jam 2 is also using CGI which will give me another reason to avoid it.

Peppa Pig is CGI. It uses a 2D animation package called CelAction. Back in the day unless you had very deep pockets you had no choice but to do 2D animation (well it's 2.5D as objects can pass in front and behind one another, but I digress). So the choice to do Scooby they way they did was one of economics, it was the only affordable option. They could have done hand-drawn 3D animation but it would have bankrupted them

Apparently Tony also posted the title card of the movie but then deleted it
