Are we sure this is an officially licensed thing and not just published fanfiction? The Josephine Ruby name (similar to Joseph Ruby, of Ruby and Spears Productions) makes me a little bit suspicious.

I thought the same thing, but the publisher was listed Scholastic, who is licensed to publish Scooby books.

Honestly, if it was published fanfiction, Marcy would be Velma's girlfriend, not her cousin. Also, I saw like one tweet about this and it seemed like it was a continuation of the D&V movie, which thank god it's not. But... It's so weird to make this an alternate Mystery Incorporated world. Especially since each individual member was so important in that universe, and the boys just straight up don't exist. Oh, well. The plot sounds decent enough. I'll probably check out some reviews when it's out.

I think "Marcy" is based on Velma's cousin in A Scooby-Doo Halloween (WNSD special), not Hot Dog Water Marcie (which would make more sense, since we're talking about a Crystal Cove setting)

Also, this plot looks way better than the movie.

What did she ever do to deserve that evil Marcy Dinkley as a best friend?

Eh, I wasn't impressed with the last Daphne and Velma project, but that was that and this is this. I've enjoyed a few YA novels in recent years, most noticeably the Lois Lane series, and things can be a lot better in books than movies. I'm willing to give it a shot. Anyone know anything the author has written before?

Whoever it is, I hope they're good. But I guess I'll just have to wait to find out next year. Not sure why there's this recent push to team up Daphne and Velma before the rest of the gang, but as long as it is fun and doesn't cut into regular Scooby content, I'm in for giving it a shot. I did enjoy the movie as dumb fun, but wow was it flawed. Also I wrote noticeably earlier when the word I was looking for was notably.

From a story perspective the girls have a lot going for them, more 'bonded' than Fred and Shaggy, more focussed that Shaggy and Scooby, different characters 'the princess and the geek' make a good team.
