Sounds like a more cinematic Team Up. Interesting. Also...Gina as Velma? I guess that means we can now say that only person capable of catching Carmen Sandiego for good is herself.

Very happy about Gina Rodriguez, she is incredibly talented. Also Im so pro having a more ethnically diverse main cast. The other 2 I barely know but I understand they both come from SNL, oh well. For the plot I’m extremely disappointed. Did not want this crossover to happen. I just wanted a Scooby-Doo story with someone to unmask and all, not a save-the-world boring team-up. Oh well, at least some other article said they are going to publicize it as much as Harry Potter and DC, so that’s cool.

Weird that we all kind of thought that angle was being downplayed. Although if this actually is the real plot, they probably should name it something more appropriate with the Hanna Barbera name.
I'm now kind of excited to see exactly who is or isn't in this. But even if this isn't some of cups of tea let us not forget this is our big chance theatrical for ALL these characters. If this movie does well, we could get more including more traditional Scooby adventures in theaters. Unless you are really opposed to this idea, I suggest we all at least go see it to help show WB "yes we want more of (at least) some of these characters". We can argue about how it could have been better after we gave them some ticket money lol.
Oh and one more time let just say, it is the second of March 2019 of what we expected to be 24 months of who knows what could happen.....i'm already winded with surprise news. And we've still got most of 22 months to go. With three big anniversary dates in that time. Buckle up folks.

I have no clue what Rodriguez sounds like since I've watched nothing she's done, but I'm having a hard time imagining the guy from Last Man on Earth sounding anything at all like Shaggy. Considering this is an animated movie I was kinda hoping that they might forgo the usual celebrity casting and largely pick actors who actually sound the part, but I guess not. At least they have the good sense to keep Welker, although he'll probably be playing Scooby only and not Fred.
But despite celebrity casting, it might still be fun. We'll see. I'm certainly at least gonna try and remain positive until a trailer drops.

Matthew Lillard wasn't very happy about this.

Matthew Lillard wasn't very happy about this. Yikes. I'd be hurt too.

From what I've seen the news has gone down like a lead balloon all round.
WB Writer: Well a shared universe with confused plots and inconsistent character line-up, just what else can we do wrong? WE Exec: Hold my beer.

Well not telling them before hand was a pretty underhanded Hollywood political move. Unless we find out later this was like Judy Jetson in the Jetsons movie kind of stunt casting (where if it wasn't above certain people's heads they would be there). But still sucks at the moment.
I also do want to consider the possibility even if this specific movie is a crossover crisis kind of thing, it might not also signal they are still going with all the potential HB movies being connected. This might not be a only one street kind of deal. The DC movies are doing unconnected ones as well, so that is something to consider.
My biggest issue so far is still not knowing who is or isn't in this thing. We're probably only dealing with a dozen or two characters from a list that is one of the biggest in the industry. Who've they picked could be a serious deal breaker. But I guess we're a lock on Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Captain Caveman and Dick Dastardly so far.

With no Fred or Daph mentioned yet that could mean either
A) They won't be in this film for some reason
Or
B) Voice actors have not been castes yet.
Daph VA said she got the same treatment, this is horrible. At least tell them your not going to be in the Flim before it circles the Internet, what a horrible way to find out. They've been working for Warner Brothers Scooby flicks all these years they get treated like this? What's even the point in casting different Voice actors in the first place? I'm my opinion that's just stupid.
Why put Velma in this type of film of all characters? If the other two aren't in this film her character was horrible in the 13 Ghosts film, just why? I don't need to see her complain about the Sci Fi elements in this film like she did the 13 Ghosts one.
Daph would have made more sense to keep since there's that 80s style formula they had.

Considering it's an ensemble film with dozens of possible lineups, I expect the cast and characters will be slowly revealed as we inch closer to the trailer.
I think it might also be a good idea for some of our non-American posters here to see how some press and internet reactions to any of these announcements go. That's been a part of this puzzle we still don't have much on. Captain Caveman being front and center on this announcement tells me WB has confidence in him somewhere already.

Very interesting choices for voices. I'm genuinely surprised though that they're sticking with the "Avengers with classic Hanna-Barbera characters" plotline though. We had that summary back in I believe summer 2016, so it's perplexing as to why they needed to push the date back 2 years then if they were just going to stick with the same exact plot.
In terms of Lillard's and Griffin's response, it is pretty horrible they had to find out about it through the Internet. You'd think WB would have at least had the decency to tell them about it, especially since I'm sure they've seen the previous news of the film through social media and presumed they'd be in it.

Emm, they're not real characters - TBH they're not even developed characters in fiction, it seems to be whatever the writers feel like at the time. They are written poorly, with a real lack of subtly at times. I suspect that they just haven't announced the other VAs yet, and given how badly these announcements have been received they might decide to wait a while.
