I think if WB wants to give life back into this franchise they need to treat this new series right. Give it promotion and a timeline everyone can follow and don't leave us guessing when the next episode will air. I think they need to air it on Cartoon Network or the Boomerang channel and not just leave it on a streaming service. No matter how good the DTV movies are received by fans there not a good way to attract new fans to the franchise. That up to the series!

You grow the franchise by introducing it to a new audience, not serving the same stuff to the same audience. WB have to get off the nostalgia couch and do some serious work to bring new people in. Simply having a paywalled and region-locked streaming app dish out more of the same is not really progress. Outside of the Scooby fandom how much buzz was there over Scoobynatural and Scooby Apocalypse, and how much for Guess Who? I would suggest that the former (re)introduced more to Scooby than the latter. Unfortunately WB is too comfortable sitting on the nostalgia couch and watching its IPs just fade away.

The young people I meet all love Scooby Doo cartoons. Their interest is in the old versions of Scooby Doo, the What's New Scooby Doo series and movies and the new Be Cool Scooby Doo. The formula of the original series is the constant in being effective to reach young people. Scooby Doo is an opportunity to teach analytical reasoning skills and creativity. The constraint for many kids are the subscription costs involved with accessing Scooby Doo, many people can't afford or don't know Scooby Doo is available or where to find the programs. In the past, Scooby Doo was available on network TV, then on cable, or by purchasing (VHS) DVD's, now by subscription services to Vudu and Boomerang. This limits the accessibility of Scooby Doo and all the wonderful learning opportunities for many kids. It also limits the shared cultural experience for the very young generation today. I understand the concepts of pay per view however Scooby Doo should be available for the masses by DVD purchase (only the 1st season of Be Cool is available to purchase on DVD), on network tv in some way, surely advertisers would support. (Yes, I buy DVD's because my family wants to watch Scooby Doo whenever and wherever we want) Having said that, those who can access Scooby Doo, love Scooby Doo and the gang, they talk about the adventures, the friendships, their kindness and support for each other, science, the determination and ingenuity of the gang, creativity, resourcefulness and love the gang traveling to places around the US and internationally. The clever writing and phrases have made their way into popular culture for previous generations and for this generation. Scooby Doo adventures are fun and engaging learning experiences. Scooby Doo does introduce popular stars to kids hopefully the meetings stay positive. I think it would be cool for Scooby Doo to have a movie with Cesar Milan or Josh Gates, Native Americans, a Groundhog Day episode, continue to embrace diversity in characters and villains (love it) crime fighting, saving cultural heritage and helping all people. I hope they continue to make the movies and the shows with the favorite formula because it's timeless and successful. I would encourage the makers to keep Fred and Shaggy in the formula of the original series "Where are you", sometimes they appears to be more 'out there' and Fred should share more positive leadership and engineering skills. I always loved and still hear in my mind, Shaggy's "righty tighty, lefty loosey" about how to unscrew a screw in 'Whats new' and other great useful every day life phrases! Daphne's character also should incorporate the tools of ingenuity and resourcefulness shown in 'What's New' series into the 'Be Cool' series, being the "MacGyver". I found the 'What's New' Daphne much more engaging and those character traits could be incorporated into 'Be Cool' even if she's also being "weird". Having said that, "Be Cool" is laugh out loud funny! Love the throw back jokes, old school villains reinvented and friendship bonding. Please keep the problem solving, science and real world life tips in the series. We all benefit from Scooby Doo sharing positive motivational "teamwork and communication skills" and young people are searching for positive role models. These things are what make Scooby Doo timeless and enjoyable. We all want to feel part of a special group. Scooby Doo allows all of us to be part of their special group, share our (normal) talents and do things that matter.
In a world of helicopter parents and the other extreme of absentee parents, divorces and other real world problems families face, sharing Scooby Doo and the gang being adventurous, traveling again domestic and international (again), meeting special people, sharing science and helpful life skills and sharing wonderful experiences will continue to be the best escape for young people and the young at heart.

Scooby-Doo itself was born out of compromise, and stayed in the hearts and minds of audiences for 50 years because of flexibility and willingness to adapt its characters and formula.
There has never been a time where so much Scooby material has been accessible (research is the key here. this is the information age), but I also agree with concerns of limiting that accessibility.
And yeah, I don't think a HUGE deal of people are fully familiar with the whole twists and turns of Scooby-Doo throughout the last half-century, but it has an unquestionable cultural presence, even if a lot of material is skimmed by the average person. Same with something as long lasting as say, Godzilla.

Scooby-Doo itself was born out of compromise, and stayed in the hearts and minds of audiences for 50 years because of flexibility and willingness to adapt its characters and formula. I'm so glad someone brought this up! People forget how janky the original cartoons could be due to limitations of budget and self-imposed restrictions placed on Saturday Morning Cartoons back then. That means new Scooby incarnations don't have the same burdens placed on them as, say, a new Looney Tunes reboot. It can be very flawed while still remaining true to the characters.
