I wanted to start this thread because I love Scrappy and always have. I thought he was genuinely a worth addition to Mystery Inc., and it makes me very sad that a lot of people hate him now. I hate what they did to him in the first live action Scooby film, and I'm sad that Scrappy hasn't truly appeared since the 80's, and whenever there is an Easter Egg, it's always mean-spirited/insulting.
Granted, I have not watch every incarnation of Scooby like some of you, but I've seen the trilogy of movies where it was just Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy, and several of the episodes where Scrappy is around. Boo Brothers is my favorite Scooby movie. I just don't understand the hate for the character, and I just wanted to get some opinions on why you think public opinion is this way.

This is a hard question to answer. It would depend on if it were the mature Scrappy or not. Scrappy was in his prime in the '80s superstar movies, I'd like to see a new movie in that style, with just Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy.

I would welcome Scrappy back as long as they don't try to draw from the 2002 movie's depiction of him for inspiration, as those Scooby: Apocalypse comics tried to do.
I really like Scrappy, never caught any of those boring 7-minute shorts when I was little, so never developed the hate some people have for him.

It depends, if all he does is run about and shouts 'puppy power' and 'lemme at 'em' then no thank you. Also if it means removing Fred and Velma then no thank you. Under the right circumstances then he could come back but all in all not really.

Under the right circumstances then he could come back but all in all not really. This may sound ridiculous to some but this is why I wish WB could run two Scooby shows at the same time. One for the viewers who prefer the transitional gang and the other would be for the viewers who prefer Scooby/Scrappy/Shaggy/Daphne. At least this would satisfy both sides of the fandom but they would probably have to cut back on the DTVs and both shows would be made by separate crews.

Though I haven't seen too many with the full gang and Scrappy, I thought it was fine with all of them together.

Only ridiculous because the networks have been horrible at handling Scooby lately. You can never have too much Scooby - I would be in heaven if there were 2 versions of the show I could watch back-to-back.

How about three versions: Classic gang, Scoob, Shag and Scrappy (and occasionally Daphne in order to finish off 13 ghosts and get to the point where Shag and Daph broke up and she went back to Fred) and a next generation version? The trick is to get these ideas into the writing staff's heads and convince they were their ideas. I feel since we've had nearly 50 years with the same characters, the world is ready to see what THEIR kids would be like. It could be an hour long show with two episodes in one. Every week the could be a new episode with the classic gang and every other week, they could alternate between new Scrappy episodes and the next generation idea. each little series in the package could have its own theme song too.

What do you mean "mature Scrappy?" If he's yelling "puppy power" and making unusable Scrappy traps, he hasn't matured yet. In the superstars movies he's way more mature. In Boo Brothers he helps a lot to solve the mystery.

I do not want Shaggy and Daphne to be separated because they have the best flanderization when they're together in my opinion. This is the main reason why I said running two shows at once. One show for you classic gang and Fraphne/Shelma fans and the other for Scooby/Scrappy/Shaggy/Daphne fans.

Most of my experience from Scrappy comes from the movie trilogy. He was really smart and mature in Boo Brothers, helping out a lot. I also remember him being that way in the show where "Nutcracker Scoob" comes from. I also thought his voice was great. My only nitpick with Scrappy when he first appeared was his voice, it just didn't fit or sound good.
And also...someone mentioned Shaggy and Daphne broke up. I didn't watch the show where it was the four of them....did Shaggy and Daphne actually date? If so, that is really weird...

Another note regarding Scrappy's maturity. I always gathered that while Scrappy is Scooby's nephew, I've always figured that Scooby probably became an Uncle at a very young age, and I don't think there's a big age gap between them. Just my thoughts.
