That was a really good old fashioned Scooby movie. Pleasing to sight after all those LEGO/ crossover stuff. Finally it didn't really focus on Shaggy and Scooby only but the whole gang was part of the storyline and acting as a team more than ever. The story was enjoyable, no lack of secondary characters which is one thing I really rely on for a good Scooby product, cast and music were on point, and I loved to see more family background and interests for the gang. Velma with her font crisis and Old Zeke with his partial blindness had some hilarious moments. I appreciated Fred challenging himself with those tasks and Velma had a more leadery part in this one. Shaggy had some really funny lines and I loved watching him succed in something. Some parenting lines from that mom were funny and the kid played an important part too. The goth girl's character could have been developped more as well as those producers who were really useless. The whole story makes you forget about the ghost at a certain point and makes you enjoy some really cute heartfelt scenes. The monster was really well done, I expected worse from the trailer and the whole fireworks and creepy sounds thing made the apparitions unsettling. I loved the final chase, first time Ive ever seen a culprit untie himself and grab a shotgun. For the nostalgics there were lots of great scenes resembling the old shows. Havent seen the fake mirror scene in a while. The character style was really classic but had some modern touch as well. I still don't like that Mystery Machine design. It really disgusts me. Big highlight of the movie was an amazing hearfelt Scooby characterization for once. Lovable and kind like he has to be. Looking forward to seeing more movies like this in the future..

I agree with Scoobylover. This movie was like a breath of fresh air. The other movies that proceeded it just felt lacking in some of the usual elements in a Scooby Doo film that made it pretty awesome. Even some of the newer films humor would have this kind of forced humor that didn't feel very fitting. But the humor and the interaction between characters was very dead on. The only thing I would have hoped for was maybe more in the mystery. In old Scooby Doo, there would usually be more clues and they would tie into the mystery better. I felt that was lacking. But besides that, the process in which the gang looked for clues was entertaining and engaging and there was a lot of action/adventure to go around that got me hooked

Guess I'll be odd guy out and say this movie drove me nuts! I thought I was really going to enjoy it but it was simply all over the place. In my opinion nothing felt connected, it was like they walked in and said here is a list of random things that all HAVE to be in this movie. Even how they caught the villains did not make sense, nor was it climactic. Also seemed that the writers did no research into dude ranches. Glad I just rented it. I guess I'm just going to have to go back to watching Be Cool because I enjoyed it a lot more than this.

I thought the movie was great. It took me a little while to get into it, but after I was hooked I enjoyed the rest of the movie. My only concern with this movie was there were too many secondary characters and they were not developed enough. I would rather see a few secondary characters and have them be developed than 10 characters that do not have a solid storyline. Other than that no complaints and it was a fun movie to watch.

Just watched it today. I enjoyed it quite a lot. It was what was mostly to be expected by now. A new mystery with tidbit references to Scooby plots past. I thought it blended together well. Not the biggest fan of a Western setting but I found this to be solid. The catching part though was a little anti-climatic but ended up setting up a fun action ender.
So far looks like a good start to the year.

A great new movie with the classic formula. My favorite part is when Shaggy tries hiding from the ghost by looking like a moose and saying "moo" lol.

I did not like it. Really at all. If I were to boil down my thoughts I would say Shaggy's Showdown has a lot of great ideas but implements them all in the most basic, dull and insultingly simplistic manner possible. Which leads to repetitive comedy, glossed over and flat suspect characters and a mystery that feels incomplete.

I'm curious which ones you actually like. Haha I know it can seem like I hate every one of them but that's honestly very far from the truth. I am highly critical of them due to my background as a story editor for movie scripts and my nostalgic ties with Scooby-doo. I hold the believe being critical of the narrative capabilities of Scooby-Doo helps fuel more discussion on what makes a memorable Scooby-Doo Movie/Show that stands the test of time. But that's just my own analytical style, anyway here's the Top 10 Best Scooby-Doo movies list I did.
