A question came to mind, just how old are the gang in this movie?
Madelyn is Velma's younger sister, she has a year of clown college under her belt and an unknown amount of time at the magic academy but it must have been a while given how good she is. So this would make her about 17-18 and the rest of the gang in their 20s?

the human gang- early 20s. Scooby's age is hard to guess- most put him at about 7 years old. we know that he is the eldest of Ma and Pa Doo's kids from the family collar episode of Pup, and presumably the oldest of the Doo family- ie older than Yabba, Scooby Dum, Dixie Doo, Scooby Dee, etc- excepting Ma and pa Doo, and any grandparents.

Velma, Daphne, Fred and Shaggy are in their early 20s. Madelyn is a high school graduate - 18 - 20 years old, but I opt for 20 or 21, as she studied in a clown college and maybe an another college (colleges?). I think she's at most 2 years younger than Velma.
Post-2010 DTV's are definitely not in chronological order - in the next movie - The Legend of the Phantosaur they were high-schoolers. But I'm not sure about the rest of movies - Camp Scare, Stage Fright etc. If I not mistaken, only Abracadabra Doo and Legend of Phantosaur gave us any hints about Gang's age.

I ask as my reference is the UK school system where you can go to college for your post 16 education with similar courses that you would do if you stayed on at school. So in the US college is post 18 education but different from a university?

Considering that both Dinkleys are geniuses, Madelyn probably got bumped up a few grades.

Considering that both Dinkleys are geniuses, Madelyn probably got bumped up a few grades. How does that work in the real world, while a person may be smart enough to study at a particular level they will still be/think/act the age they are. In maths there are a few who have barely reached teenagers who are doing degrees but they are rare and a huge amount of support is put around them to insulate them from the wider student life e.g. the many bars that exist on campus.

Here in Poland we write the Maturity Exam just before finishing high school (usually in the age of 19). Only passing this exam allows to go to a university.

So in the US college is post 18 education but different from a university? Yes, colleges can be universities but universities can't be colleges. Universities are generally more prestigious and offer a variety of programs (often through a group of different colleges, e.g. a university could be comprised of a College of Business, College of Communication, College of Theater, etc.). Universities also usually offer a mix of undergraduate and graduate (master's) programs.
