Were The Smurfs still being made when the film was done? Scooby is still being made with established voice actors so there is no reason to not use the existing VAs. If you want celebrities they can be villains and others. Here's an example closer to home:LEGO Ninjago. It's still airing and there's a WAG film (same company that's making Scoob) coming out next year. Not a single voice actor is returning to their role even though I can't imagine anyone in the new cast besides Jackie Chan bringing anyone into the cinema. They did it for the sake of having celebrities for press junkets and to stir up media, I can't see any reason why Scoob won't be the same. I don't even think the current voice cast is perfection so it'll be nice to see a change, not to mention we hear so much of them. Luckily since Scooby is so popular we'll hopefully get some famous person to voice at least one member of the gang.

We'll have to disagree, I don't want anybody famous voicing any of the gang, just their existing VAs.

the Smurfs theater films we the first new media involving the Smurfs in decades. by Comparison Scooby has an ongoing TV show. it would make sense for them to get as many of the current Vas as possible to do their roles.

Ninjango isnt on the same level of popularity as Scooby for one, then again few animated shows are.

If they do get celebrities, I think they might keep Frank Welker. Since you can't get a celebrity to voice Scooby.
They might also keep Kate Micucci, since she is pretty famous in her own right.

Well we had celebrities for the two Scooby theater films, and only Lillard really did a good job - hence why hes playing Shaggy now

I could see the casting being the same as any two of the four live films. Preferably the prequels cast. It would make sense for a reboot to have Robbie,Kate,Hayley & Nick back for the gang and keep Frank for Scooby. Either that or call Hadley Kay back for Scooby (kay has to date been the closest to Don out of Don's replacements if a bit squeaky.) The tv/DTV cast is simply for that media line and is famous for that set. The live films cast graduates to the tv series/dtvs. Not the other way around. Lillard is now doing tv shaggy not film shaggy (there's differences) If anyone else winds up exiting the roles at some point then the live cast will go next to assume the roles most likely.

Ir depends on when the tv folks retire (Welker is 70 after all), and I dont think we'll be seeing any live action scooby again any time soon.

Doesn't mean that the live cast can't be in an animated project. I really could see them bringing in Robbie for Fred on a theatrical feature (he was much closer to Fred vocally than Freddie Prinze Jr was imo)

I don't want the prequel cast. I don't think any of them did a particularly good job.
They could go the route of keeping the current VAs for the gang and save the celebrities for the villian/side roles, but I don't see them doing that. I could see them using Lillard even though he doesn't really have a presence anymore.

Maybe Fred's going to have a role that requires 2 VA's. I once heard tell of a movie where a character had THREE actors, total. Update: OK, I could've sworn I saw a post above saying that IMDB leaked two VA's for Fred. I was mistaken.
