An interesting article. The Scooby-Doo franchise is an enormous and expansive pop culture staple: it boasts feature length films, animated TV series, comics, toys, games, and tangential merchandise. For 47 years, the animated, lovable Great Dane Scooby has solved mysteries with his crew. It’s a weird and unexplained detail that only two out of the 15 different animated Scooby series have ever made it past a second season before cancellation... www.inverse.com/article/15431-scooby-dooby-doo-where-are-you-why-are-your-animated-series-so-short-now

It is. Apparently Pup's been the longest running one and then WNSD. I just hope Be Cool ends soon.

That's so odd. Wonder why they cant get them to stick around longer? The article touched on a positive point though even though the individual shows don't stick around long the franchise is strong enough that another one comes along pretty quickly. This is great because the show is getting rebooted so often it lets different people have different approaches which leads to some pretty different ideas. Mystery incorporated, get a clue and this be cool one are totally different shows. Also if you don't like a particular series, its totally ok the next one might be more to your liking. How many shows get to say that? So cool.

You have shows like The Simpsons and SpongeBob who have gone on for ages, in the same context, in the same setting and they get tired, doing things for the sake of doing things. The format of Scooby Doo (people in masks) doesn't give as much room to innovate unless you make make key changes to the story structure, 13 Ghosts and SD:MI for example. I'd rather have a reboot every few years than them just churn out more of the same each time.

I honestly didn't like SDMI much, even with me giving it a chance (watch the first 10 episodes when they came out). But now we have BCSD, which after giving it a chance (and not judging it by it's art style) I must say I'm really liking it. It's a refreshing new take and has given me a suprising amount of laughs. Also it's worth saying that even if you don't like the current series it also doesn't matter because there's quite a big varied backlog of Scooby episodes (and movies) to give you entertainment anyway.

That is one of the cool things about Scooby-Doo! If you don't like a particular thing, you can just move on to the next.

Do we really want 100 episodes of M.I.? I certainly don't. It will be interesting to see what they do for the anniversary series, because apart from What's New (which just captured the original format in modern times) everything has put a new spin on the formula. If we do get our first fourth series with a continuation of the original let's hope for a decent Daphne.

I don't think modern Simpsons is as bad as every makes it out to be (and hey if one series deserves to stay it's the one that started this trend) but SpongeBob and Family Guy have got to go. I saw this great video about Fairly Odd Parents how it was supposed to end early on and even aired its finale (which basically had a message of things can't last too long) but was brought back and now just churns out formulaic episodes because it's gone past its due date.

While I too enjoy Be Cool I'm not sure if we need 78 episodes of it, 52 is fine in my book at least. I doubt we'll get a 2018 series to give space between Be Cool and whatever they air for the supposed 50th anniversary.

Be cool isn't bad it's just a bit too weird for me with Fred and Daphne and i'm not sure who's weirder.
