I couldn't find a review for this one! Anyway, one of my favorites.

This is a pretty solid episode. The first appearance of a haunted pirate ship is good. The ghost is alright but the unmasking is kind of unexpectated

Another great episode that I feel like gets overshadowed by admittedly better episodes around it like Spooky Space Kook and A Night of Fright is No Delight but this one is great and my dad's favorite

Another great episode that I feel like gets overshadowed by admittedly better episodes around it like Spooky Space Kook and A Night of Fright is No Delight but this one is great and my dad's favorite I think you're spot on. I always thoroughly enjoy everything about this episode when I'm watching it but it always fades into the background after a short while & I remember the surrounding episodes much more fondly. Strange, cause this one is pretty great and feels like a sort of retelling of "A Clue for Scooby Doo", without ever noticeably retreading old ground.

Yeah it is definitely similar to A Clue for Scooby Doo (another one that is even better than this one) but I agree that there are enough differences that this one still feels fresh. It is a key part of one of the best four episode stretches in Scooby history in my opinion (Which Witch is Which, Go Away Ghost Ship, Spooky Space Kook, A Night of Fright is No Delight) even if it isn't quite as strong as those other three in my opinion

Those run of episodes are certainly hard to top, as they are all absolute classics. [slightly off topic] The final 4 episodes of Season 2 are (imo) perhaps the only ones that can give the 4 you mentioned a run for their money. Even if the episodes aren't quite iconic, I feel "Haunted House Hang Up" to "Don't Fool With a Phantom" is a marvelous stretch.

Haunted House Hang Up and Werewolf are both phenomenal episodes, and Tiki and Phantom are also both pretty good as well. Imo, Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall, Phantom of Country Music Hall, Caped Crusader Caper, and the Lochness Mess of the New Scooby Doo movies and Headless Horseman of Halloween, Scared a Lot in Camelot, Harum Scarum Sanitarium, and one's personal choice of Watt a Shocking Ghost or No Face Zombie Chase Case on either end of the Scooby Doo show are also some of the best Scooby 4 episode stretches

Terrific atmosphere in that episode which makes up for the somewhat stretched thin "mystery". I would agree with just about all of those picks except for maaaybe Camelot, for me.

I still do enjoy it quite a bit though

Another one to add would probably be any random row of 4 episodes in Season 2 of The Scooby Doo Show haha. It's not quite my favourite season of the Scooby ever but objectively possible the best, quality wise.

Any random string of season 2 episodes is gonna be one of the best but I could also see a string involving Ghost of the Bad Humor Man, Spirits of 76, Curse of Viking Lake, and Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats is also up there with two from season 1 as well

I've shared my thoughts on this one last year. It's a really solid episode and a fun nautical adventure but kinda gets overshadowed by the incredible episodes round about it. Wish we got to spend more time on the Ghost Ship because that was very interesting locale for investigating.
Mystery: 8/10 Villain: 8/10 Setting: 8/10
Overall Score: You guessed it ... 8/10

Plot: Solid episode and solid pirate mystery. It had pretty much everything in 21 minutes, from a skull island to a cave with a secret door and a secret message. A SDWAY classic. 9/10 Set Up: Solid set up, also with a cool ghost ship and a creepy skull island. 8/10 Monster: This episode's weakness for me The butler still gives me chills (even if he's not the bad guy in the end), but the ghost pirate is kind of forgettable. It was perfectly clear from the beginning that it was just a criminal in disguise. 6/10
BONUS Nostalgia Boost: +0.5. Not for the episode itself, though. I used to play an internet game based on this episode a lot. I wish I could find and play it again for the nostalgia.
Overall, a solid episode with a nice pirate mystery. In my opinion, an early Scooby-Doo classic. Final Score: 8.2/10
