I've been skeptical of paranormal activity, still am, but one thing is certain, I will NOT be going back to Ellerbe school lol
There is a school in a rural part of North Louisiana in the middle of a field. No one has ever really pegged down the exact story behind it but the main theme of all the variations are usually an elementary school that had a fire, either because someone was trying to cover up crimes or just by accident. There are tons of websites and Youtube videos of it and I think Ghost Hunters even visited it.
I went with a couple of friends to a place near the school called Forbing because there are supposedly some haunted train tracks where a school bus was hit by a train. The legend says if you cover your car in flour or some kind of powder and park it on the tracks, the ghost of the children will push your car off, and you can see the hand prints in the powder. We tried this for about 30 minutes; parking the car, turning it off, parking on the tracks, parking near the tracks, and nothing happened. It was getting into the AM hours so we decided to drive out and check out the Ellerbe school. It really is in the middle of no where. There are no street lights or anything, its literally an empty field. I've heard stories of the owner firing shots at trespassers but I doubt its true, because he'd have to be pulling up a lawn chair in the middle of a cow pasture just waiting on people.
Either way from the start things are creepy. You cross this torn up gate and go walking up to one of the most sinister looking buildings in history. Phones don't have reception, cameras screw up, its pitch black....eerie stuff lol We were walking down the breeze ways filming with a video camera but we decided there was no way we were going inside. We kept hearing things and just had a real uneasy feeling. So we decided to come back during the day and we headed back to the car. There was still a fine dust of flour on the car and there were hand prints all in it. At first we didn't pay that any mind because we figured it was from us getting out and touching the car ourselves, but then someone pointed out strange handprints. Some were was bigger than any of our hands, some were smaller, one had 6 fingers, and there were some positioned as if someone had climbed down from the roof of the car. We got out of there as fast as we could. Got home and watched the video and it was plagued by sections of static as if something were interfering with it. We also kept seeing orbs which we first explained as the camera light reflecting in the windows but someone pointed out that nearly none of the windows had glass left in them.
Somehow they got me to go back a second time right before dawn. We went with a bigger group. We walked through the entire school and it does indeed look like a fire has happened. Its also covered in graffiti and things left over from rituals (which to keep it kid friendly, I won't go into). The whole time you are in that school you hear things and feel like something is watching you. Its the worst feeling ever.
Before we left we went to the water tower on the property where a witch was reported to be buried. No grave, but there was some weird circle thing built out of metal. We were standing on it in a circle and we heard a loud screech, which wasn't that weird to us, we all grew up in the woods and we are pretty accustom to panther calls, so that's what we thought it was.
We started walking back toward our cars and the nerd of our party started telling us he was seeing people in the school. Everyone ignored him at first, but I did eventually look back and you could see dark human shaped outlines peeking around walls and poles and darting back into cover when they knew you detected them. That is scary on so many levels because either A- it really was ghosts or B- someone was hiding away from us in that school and we had no idea they were there.
And once again, our video was hardly watchable because of the interference. But here is something even creepier, I was a senior at the time and I was sitting in class one day and heard some people talking about going out to the school. They were talking about the metal structure at the water tower and I heard them telling someone how they stood in the circle on it and heard a scream so they took off running. I don't know what is going on with that place, but I hands down will never set foot near it again. I work in the Ellerbe area and I will take a detour all the way around to get to places just to avoid going past that school.
On a lighter note, it was such a creepy place when my friends and I started our band we named it From Ellerbe, which was a horrible choice because the singer would always introduce us at shows like this: "We are From Ellerbe", and then everyone would be like so that's where you are from....what's the band name? From Ellerbe! Ok....but what is your NAME?! lol We eventually dropped the From, but every now and then I still see our old logo or tshirts and I just shake my head.
