"Party Like it's 1899" will air 10/19 as episode 8 on CN in US. Canada and Italy are airing "Party Like Its 1899" as episode 2 as well as the UK, so it appears the US is the only one airing this out of order. tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/be-cool-scooby-doo/EP02259953?aid=zap2itI'm on my phone right now so I can't move this thread to the correct sub-board at the moment. When I'm on my computer tomorrow morning I'll create the sub-board for Party Like Its 1899 and move this thread there.

Actually Doo, I'm the Wikipedia contributor of Be Cool Scooby-Doo's Italian page so I put 'Party Like It's 1899' cause I thought for sure it would have been the second but I'm changing it!
Btw it's weird why the showed that one even though my opinion is because they had British accents.

This was probably my favorite episode so far. Very different and original plot, and I liked the Headless Count (I'm guessing based off of the Headless Spectre).
The jokes in this episode were great too! My favorites were Fred's "bumbling gloves" and horn joke.
It was interesting to see the new Daphne without any quirks. Loved the ending too! 10/10

As I mentioned elsewhere, this was actually the second script I wrote for the show after the pilot ("Mystery 101") so it's a little different in feel than some of the others once we kinda nailed everything down in terms of structure and approach. I always loved this one as a character story. It was built to explore and further introduce our new version of the gang in a situation that would bring out their personalities. As a script goes through production and is put in the hands of others to execute, some things get altered or even lost in execution, but I was pleased to see many of the little character nuances, like Daphne's very human, embarrassed, jokey response to Bradwick's compliment that she looks stunning ("Yeah, that's me: set for stun! Pew! Pew!") remained intact. I'm really glad you enjoyed this one.

Oh, that's "Party Like It's 1889" - when they're at the murder mystery party? Game of Chicken takes place in caves underground. Sorry about the accents, they were meant to bad, of course. We didn't want to hurt your teeth, however. What irks me.is that it seems we're either portrayed as sounding like rejects from Downtown Abby or as Dick van Dyke from Mary Poppins. To be honest it isn't funny it's just frustrating and annoying. I''d better get a.mod to.move the post. I feel the same way whenever shows do "southern" accents. The deep south accents are typically over the top and offensive and in actuality, I've never heard them spoken by anyone. If any accent sounds weird it's Cajun french which is ironically almost exactly like the North's valley french.

The deep south accents are typically over the top and offensive and in actuality, I've never heard them spoken by anyone. If any accent sounds weird it's Cajun french which is ironically almost exactly like the North's valley french. There is a 'standard' English accent called RP or Received Pronunciation which is often what is used as 'standard English'. Now if I put my mind to it I can speak in RP, I live in the south of England which helps with the vowel sounds and pacing. The voices that the family spoke did sound like regular English accents, but from many decades ago (the kind of accents that most people would take the mickey out of today). The gang spoke accents that are only found in Hollywood. That's Hollywood California, not Hollywood in Worcestershire. For a real laugh they could have tried pronouncing Worcestershire. Something you can all try in the comfort of your own homes without looking it up on the internet. (hint: what you've just said is probably wrong). Having done that you can then try Welsh place names.

That was probably the best episode so far! A really cool mystery element to it, the humor was great, and I loved the remake of the Headless Specter. Personally, I found the British accents quite funny.

So, it does air in Italy as second episode too!
Btw, it was a really good episode. The story was original and it was funny especially the invitation joke (laughed so hard). Loved the pushed British accent tho and Daphne's role. I actually don't know what to say. I'm starting get used to the whole point of the series so to me was normal episode but with really good story and jokes 10/10

Maybe because it aired in the UK first, whatever the reason may be, I really liked this episode. JCB said that this was held back in the States because it didn't quite fit with the rest of the episodes, but I saw nothing out of the ordinary compared to the others. I wasn't disappointed by the accents. I loved the roles they played, JCB and anybody else who had input with Daphne did really, really well. This series has done wonders with Daphne, and this episode is a prime example of that. It's also got me liking Grey as Daphne again. It just goes to show that having a likable and well written character can really reflect on the person who is doing it, because before Be Cool, I was not only getting sick of Daphne's growing lame portrayal, I was also getting sick of Grey's voice coming out of her. It also showed that Daphne can have a love interest without it being done terribly. It also paid off that Daphne and Fred aren't an item (or whatever their confused relationship is in standard continuity is).

Yeah, I spent a lot of time rebuilding Daphne from scratch starting with her 1969 version. We had, at first, considered, using the "danger prone" aspect (mentioned in Mystery 101) but soon found she was much more interesting as a person and being "clumsy" was not needed and boring to service. I'm also so pleased you're liking Grey in the role more, she and the character have melded into one and "1889" was one of the first great character episodes for her.

I love this episode; everything about it from the chicken hug to Velma staying in character the whole time. I loved that when everything started to go down, everyone thought it was part of the party. And Fred is totally insane; I loved it! This is the first series where I've actually liked Fred. I don't think I've ever hated him but I've never really had an opinion about him before because he's just... There most of the time.
The ending of the mystery was amazing; I love how Velma looked so into the game but, when it came down to it, she was really paying attention the whole time.
Off with his head!!!

I thought this was a great episode! I did like Daphne being introduced as extremely wealthy, though in the original Shaggy was quite well off so it would've been nice to see him have gone before too. The Frelma hints in this show are everywhere. I thought Velma staying in character was quite funny and I loved Scooby's line at the end about her. Fred's bumbling gloves jokes was funny too. I liked how Shaggy and Scooby were solving the mystery, in Mystery Incorporated they seemed to do nothing. Daphne didn't have much to do, besides be given a love interest. The reveal was pretty predictable, but it's hard to be left with a lot of suspects if the rest of the episode is so good.

I liked this one a bit. The dinner murder mystery aspect in the mansion, was quite fun, and I liked seeing the gang act like Posh and what-not. I'll admit I did see the culprit coming from a mile away though, but that's aside the point. It was a solid episode overall.
