I don't see the point of this since they have the DTVs.

I cannot wait for this! So glad it's animated. Wonder if it will be based off of Mystery Incorporated in any way.

Sorry, not trying to be rude or negative on this forums, but I meant any Scooby related media feels like it could just easily be sent right to DTV or TV. The first two live action movies feel the same way. For some reason I feel like the new movie will be made in the same style of the current DTVs and will have some type of repeating and boring plot.

That's so cool!! It's a long wait, and I'm not really fond of such long plans, you never know what'll happen, but I'm looking forward! Welcome to the board, mrlettuce and thanks for sharing!

Just saw this, and now we can finally stop wondering if the live action reboot replaced the animated one. Both are clearly still happening and are separate.
This was the first theatrical HB project we heard rumblings about. More info on the others should be in the pipeline for official announcements soon.

The movie we heard about last year was never confirmed to be live action.

The news of an animated theatrical movie first came in August of 2013 with Matt Lieberman attached as writer. Then came the announcement in June 2014 they were doing a live action reboot being written by Randall Green. Now this announcement puts a date on an animated one and it has the writer as originally announced in 2013. I still think they are both separate based on this.

Do you really think they are going to spend $84 million and $80 million on DTV movies?
