Ouch either way, but it is much worse if he did cut part of his thumb off! Hopefully not, but it seems to me like he has. Btw I STILL haven't seen the new movie!

What are you waiting for Daniel? According to Wikipedia, "In September 2009, Palatas accidently cut off a part of his thumb while working with a table saw."

I don't think anyone wants to imagine that!
And it was intentionally. No one ever got the chance to find out why, though - he was a normal guy.
If you ever get to use one - be careful! We have one, because my father is skilled carpenter. When he has to push something through it, he uses this wooden 'hand'. On it are the words: 'I can be replaced - your hand can't'.

That's so sad I can't imagine ever taking my own life. The wooden hand is a good idea. We have a saw, and it freaks me out every time I have to help my husband with something. I always worry that one of us will lose a limb.
