Can I port the Java code to spreadsheet? I've already shown it is possible. My reason for doing so is to make the Java code more accessible to us adverage users.

Okay. I'll wait to see if you have anything already. Whatever you have the latest of, I should be able to figure out and port. Is the names generator part of the Java file you posted?

I admit I'm not sure what the best medium is for the ongoing generator. I can help with spreadsheets but I'm a terrible programmer outside of excel unfortunately. I could try to learn Java, but as of now I don't even know how to execute your source code. I even took Java programming in college but I did so poor I couldn't go on to the next class.

Lets just stick to the spreadsheets for now. I'll get back to you in a day or so.

I did update the spreadsheet to include names of culprits. I was amazed that it just randomized a result of Michael Jackson.

What if whoever works on it posts their final version here so we stay up to date? Will that work? There could be some overlap unfortunately. I'm going to hold off until russm goes through the past projects and we don't do unnecessary work

ScoobyMysteryGenerator.xls (48.5 KB) Updated spreadsheet, this time with an expanded randomizer for culprit and suspect names, and even updated cell with Commercial Building by adding "/Shopping Mall" to the cell. In the list of names for the culprit and three suspects, the culprit is listed on top.

Can you add percentage of likelihood to the randomizer? For example, taking into account the newer series, Velma doesn't actually lose her glasses all the often anymore.

What percentage do you suggest? If there was to be, say a 5% probability of Velma losing her glasses, the formula would be something like this, assuming it would be in, for example, cell A1: =RANDBETWEEN (1,20) Snice 100 divided by 5 equals 20. And to randomize based on probabiluty, this would go in the appropriate cell: =if (A1=1, "Yes", "No")

I have been using Excel quite frequently since I took courses in it early in 2006. It's quite interesting, I even got hooked on it. I even use such program in the office I presently work in. However, there is still quite a lot of functions I have yet to learn, and the Choose function was pretty cool for me to learn yesterday evening. I was interesting in learning that for quite some time.
