I got into Simple Plan because of this episode. The theme song and the chase song. Simple Plan was what got me (back) into Scooby lel, they are an excellent band though, as most the board has heard about Simple Plan from me one time or another cx.

But overall, a great episode minus the continuity problems.

I like a lot about this one, the references to old episodes and the story of the Mystery Machine.

This episode aired on the same day as my 2nd birthday! What are the odds?

About the van being Daphne's it doesn't contradict the canon by it belonging to someone else... if you consider that Mr.Blake likely bought it from Flash Flanigan and then gave it to Daphne. Then Velma mystery equipped it, Fred fixed the mechanics, Daphne put in more comfortable seating and then Shaggy & Scooby slapped a fresh coat of paint on it. Why are the flowers red in WNSD as opposed to the original orange? Simple, Fred wanted to paint it red so when it was time for a new paint job Shaggy turned the flowers red. Now as for canons i have always said that no matter what happens 13 Ghosts is always the last series. My current timeline as far as Scooby canon goes has this order... Pup is first. WAY-SD Show+Be Cool seems like it could fit here as Daphne being slightly insane and her quirks would be a step towards her becoming less vain and begin the process of being more like the Daphne we have today in more serious interpretations before a temporary split. Then SD goes Hollywood is simply a video interpretation of the previous events not actually the real mystery inc, just actors (i suppose that it would be a similar case to A Scooby-Doo valentine wherein the va's of the day would be in animated form if HB had done meta) so the 90's DTV's, Legend of the Vampire and Monster of Mexico happen next so as to set What's new Scooby-Doo & it's films along with Get A Clue up. After get a clue we see the first season of Scooby & Scrappy and the shorts not involving Fred, Velma and Daphne,Boo Brothers and Reluctant Werewolf also happen at this time with shaggy getting his red outfit but doesn't wear it often, next we have the New Scrappy/Mysteries period, shortly after that the mystery machine becomes red and Fred & Velma leave for good after a final mystery,Ghoul school happens during the time everyone's handling the permanent split. Shaggy wears his red outfit full time, Daphne then freshens her outfit up to the purple jumpsuit (among others) and 13 ghosts happens, at one point...Daphne & Shaggy marry and adopt Flim Flam because Daphne can't have kids.

Thank you, i can also safely say that Mystery Incorporated follows the live action series of events with alternate details of prior series up to 1985 especially since the gang seems somewhat hated in all those films.

well hated is a bit of a strong term, imo.

I'm not comfortable with the idea of the Mystery Machine coming from a 1-shot older team that was just introduced this episode. But other than that, great episode and the first one with the idea of the MM being a monster! (though it seems they'll be revisiting this concept in an upcoming ep of Be Cool).

I think reboots and newer incarnations have modifications (even just slightly) due to copyright reasons.

Though I like Daphne's dad getting the van presented in Behind the Scenes better. I do like this episode some. The Mystery Machine being haunted as fun too. I didn't like the kids and mom much. The reference to What a Night for a Knight is great too

I'm not sure that this episode is cannon though. The van was Daphne's. A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and What's New Scooby-Doo were reboots. Shows always change continuity for some reason. Pup was a Prequel not a reboot. Oh Boo hoo So Scrappy didn't appear in this show, that still doesn't make it a reboot.

Is anyone "old enough" to think the mother character Susan Dinwiddie is a spoof of SHIRLEY PARTRIDGE and, in fact, looks just like the way H-B rendered her in their 1974 series Partridge Family 2200A.D.(?)😮.

One of my favorite episodes from season one of Whats New, Scooby Doo. I'll give it to the writer, making the monster the Mystery Machine was pretty clever and different from the usual monster or ghost. Loved the back story of the van being haunted by the keyboardist Flash Flannigan, who I think is a spoof of Slash from Guns and Roses, and the whole music aspect of it. Simple Plan did an amazing job with the chase scene music. Wish the writer from the new shows would have more rock groups do songs for the chase scenes.
