A giant owl... A really cool villain, and the episode was good too. Also, starting from this episode, the animation slightly changes. If you notice, there are shadows behind the characters to emphasise the fear, sometimes. I actually noticed that in "Make a Beline Away from That Feeline".

Hmmmm.....I didn't notice any shadows, I'll have to watch this one again.
I loved this episode, especially for the Williwaw villain.

I don't think there were shadows in this particular episode, but in some that followed.

I like this episode because it also reminds me of something out of my youth. Even when i was young i also liked ghost stories and the like. The whole owl calling your name thing as a curse was something i had heard before, but in the internet time, i don't see much documentation of any tribes claiming it. But then sometimes little odd bits of folklore don't always make it in formal publications and just slowly get passed on by word of mouth.
Either way though i don't think the giant owl will come and get you part was in anything ever but Scooby XD

Really enjoyed this one. The owl-men were a pretty neat concept for a monster, and The Willawaw itself was effective enough.
Also of note, this is the first episode not to use any sound effects or music from Scooby-Doo: Where Are You. Instead we have an entirely set of music cues, some of which was introduced in the first two Scooby-Doo show seasons, and a few others that were introduced in this episode, and carried over for The Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo show.

I don't think there were shadows in this particular episode, but in some that followed. Well, when the Owl-Men are first introduced, all you see is their shadows, which was probably done to create a sense of fear and trouble.

The short summary for the episode on the Boomerang app completely ruins the mystery lol.
"An Indian creates a legendary beast to scare people away from his smuggling operation."

Make the character generic and that covers up most Scooby Doo plot-lines I mean, the description is still better than "Life imitates art," the actual description they have up now for "Theater of Doom" from SDMI lol.

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between this episode and The Curse of Viking Lake? For example: - The gang visits Velma's uncle
- The gang goes into her uncle's cabin to find her uncle has been kidnapped
- Scooby sees the monsters through the windows
- Scooby and Shaggy are out on the water and get attacked by the monsters
- The rest of the gang go investigating in some caves
- Both were revealed to be smuggling operations in the end, one being uranium and the other being the stolen items
Maybe they just decided to use that same idea to introduce the mystery and the last three were just coincidental, but my point still stands. This is my personal least favorite of the series due to the partially copied plot and just being a less enjoyable version of the Curse of Viking Lake in my opinion, which is a favorite of mine.

The similarities between the two always interested me as a kid! Btw, welcome to the forum Matt!

I find this to be one of the most forgettable episodes of TSDS. The Willawaw is a pretty insane looking monster but I feel like even Shaggy & Scooby would recognise that the owl-men were just some guys in a costume.
The Indian Reserve is pretty cool and spooky location, but, again I feel like there's a bit too much hijinks going on and not enough plot. The small part with the owl calling Scoobys name is my personal favourite.

Plot: Rough start for season 3. The plot is similar to the Viking episode, although the second was more developed and well written. It isn't garbage, but it's sure a downgrade for the series. 6/10
Villain: Willawaw was a cool and frech idea. A giant owl monster from native American folklore sounds interesting, but the execution was a little bit problematic. You could easily say that this wasn't a living creature but something a man made. The two owl men were ridiculous and some of the weakest monsters in the series. 6/10
Final Score: 6/10
