Is there anything specific in this episode anyone can remember that might be the cause here? Obviously pointing out WB is clearly able to still sell the 70s Animated Series, it seems completely improbable the problem is character rights. But if it's like music rights, why would it only effect one episode that they could clear everything else. I don't think they played the Addams Family tv show theme, or am I remembering wrong?
There's got to be something (probably even rather small) that we're missing here. Missing besides Wednesday, that is.

There's got to be something (probably even rather small) that we're missing here. Missing besides Wednesday, that is. The issue has to be John Astin and possibly Carolyn Jones refusing the contracts. They were not the voices of Gomez and Morticia in the 70s animated series, whereas they were in this episode. John Astin resumed providing the voice of Gomez in the 90s series, which they also haven't been able to release. That's the only logical difference I can find.

Late reply (as I've been away) but that's a good theory. Astin would have probably signed something to negate that issue on the 90s series, but it would be probable it would not have retroactively applied to that earlier episode.
Hopefully whatever it is eventually gets looked into for either a Finally Complete release or putting it as a bonus on some other release. But I guess one hurdle at a time.

Just joining the forum here. I've always loved Scooby Doo since I was kid. I'm so excited to see that they are finally issuing the Sonny & Cher episode on DVD and Blu Ray. However, I was surprised to see that this one was not included. I've come to find out that it was released on VHS exclusively in the UK as Scooby Doo Meets the Addams Family. It seems to be quite rare. Has anyone ever done a proper analog to digital transfer of this?

Hopefully one day they will resolve whatever the problem is.

Maybe they wanted to hold off on releasing this episode in fear that it would hinder the box office performance of the new Addams Family film in theaters. If that's the case, I bet we'll see the episode finally released once that film has had it's run and is out for DVD/Blu-ray/streaming/digital.
Kinda sad, though. I remember this being perhaps my second or third favorite episode of this series!

I doubt it. WB had no involvement in the new movie.

This is one of the few episodes from any Scooby Doo incarnation that I have never seen. It frustrates me greatly, but there isn't a lot we can do.

I think a lot of us thought they'd never release those 9 missing episodes before last year, and now we're down to one, so you never know!

Definitely among the more memorable guest stars although I wouldn't call this one quite a favorite

This had some really good jokes, didn’t feel as dragged on as the rest and it was a very good episode apart from the villain, their motive and the way they switched idea so quickly in the end, meh.

This one definitely drags on a fair bit but the Addams family are memorable guests and the highlights are just the gang getting spooked by all the weird stuff in the mansion. Wednesday going missing was just an excuse for a mystery to occur but it works just fine. I love the eerie atmosphere at the beginning of the episode! Shame it's not on the Blu-ray set.

The Addams Family themselves and the house are easily the stars of the show. Other than that, not one of my favorites of the show It’s almost unfair as it doesn’t really have a chance for me to be as attached to it when it is harder to find ways to watch it
