This episode features Scooby Dee in her only appearance to date in the Scooby canon. Frankly I'm surprised there wasnt a thread up about this episode before.

I remember this episode, but i do admit given that it's one of the ones i don't have on dvd, it feels like so long ago that i have seen it due to just being used to watching all the other episodes.
Too bad this was Scooby Dee's only appearance. I guess the idea of her just didn't stick. That being said, it seems at the time it appears they were testing waters for a sixth gang member, first with Scooby Dum, and then with this episode perhaps they thought Scooby Dee could take off as a bigger character, but either way i guess Scooby Dee was meant to be one of those characters we only see once and left wondering if there would ever be more.

dee was thought up as a possible love interest, but that didnt take. dixue, who is the only other female relative scooby has, might serve as a potential 6th member in her own right.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the series, I wish Scooby Dee would have appeared in more episodes rather than just this one.

i agree doo, as having a dogfriend for scooby is something that really has only been temporary for the course of an episode or film.

possibly, but its something that hasnt been explored , and very few things in the scooby universe havent been explored after 45 years.

Actually, according to Scooby Wiki Scooby Dee made a cameo in a What's new Scooby Doo episode (outside a dog show, I don't know what episode)

So it was officially her? I always thought that she just looked very much like her...

I think it was just a dog that looked like her, not actually her.

I think it was just a cameo, WNSD also had a guy that looked like Vincent Price/Van Ghoul as an appearance reference.
EDIT: and since i rewatched the Halloween episode today, one guy was designed to look like Asa Shanks, but was another guy.

thanks for the info matt. but for my money for it to count as an appearance, they have to acknowledge her.

I'll have to rewatch that episode, but does the Gang actually see that dog that is/looks like Dee? Because if they did then i would say it was just an appearance gag like the above mentioned two.
If they didn't actually see the dog, then i'd say it's open to debate.
