New to the forums, and thought as a hello I'd share why a 25 year old construction worker is such an avid Doo fan (even to the point of getting a Scooby tattoo, which I hope to finish out into a full blown Scooby sleeve lol)
When I was young I watched a lot of Scooby Doo but it wasn't like a favorite show or anything. When I was about 7 my dad became terminally ill and eventually passed away on my 13th birthday. While sick, he made sure that he treated the family to 2 summer trips to Florida. We live in Louisiana so Florida isn't a bad drive, but I imagine for 2 small children it took forever, so my mom loaded us up with movies for the ride, the majority of them being Scooby Doo. Once we got there, what was on tv? Scooby marathon, so me and my sister were quite saturated in it.
And when we got Zombie Island, God that was an awesome day and I can remember it vividly. I was at home playing Mission Impossible on the N64 (if anyone remembers that, that game was the best) and my mom and sister came back from shopping. My sister had the Island VHS in hand and we watched it over and over. It was one of the few times my sister and I got along and actually spent some time together. Just all together an awesome time, one of those stupid little things that may be insignificant to others, but to you means the world.
So now whenever I watch Scooby, I just get such an awesome feeling because of those memories. With the Mystery Incorporated series and the movies they are releasing, I think the franchise has a strong future, which I've become more excited about since the birth of my first son. Now I've dedicated myself to trying to collect as many episodes and movies as possible so when he gets old enough, he too can appreciate it like I do. I'm hoping he'll like it, because I'm not giving up watching Witch's Ghost to watch Barney! lol
