I really loved this episode of SDWAY! It was the episode that got me into the Scooby series , since my dad was watching it one day and let me watch it with him. When Shaggy goes to open the safe Scooby turns to the screen and makes the weirdest face ever. My brothers and I were watching it the other day, and noticed it and couldn't stop laughing! Anyway very good episode and the villain has to be one of my favorites.

He does look sinister there... What I loved about this episode is the gang trying to convince Scooby to get on the elevator: "What are you, a chicken?" and Scooby immitates the sounds and moves of a chicken!! Classic Scooby gag!!

I maintain that Hank gets the award for least creative costume in a Scooby episode PERIOD. He's literally in his normal clothes with a beard...or the production crew just phoned it in on the day they designed the character.

The costume was basic, but the whole legend schtick was pretty good. The mine howling for the miner is a nice little creepy thing to say, even if the miner himself wasn't that creepy looking in his own right.
Least creative costume in my mind goes to the hanks guy from the headless specter episode. He just put on a sheet that didn't even cover the lower half of his body.

I remember "Cars 2" actually reusing the "phony train in the tunnel" gag this episode utilized (when the old Galloping Goose mimics a train in a tunnel on his old track route to scare away Lightning McQueen and the Tow Truck.) How unoriginal! But I think MY take on that gag was better (also combining it with when "Muppet Babies" did it as well)... Looks fun, but is definitely a "Don't try this at home" trick. I also wrote a crossover of the episode with Jim Henson's Muppet Babies! (because they did a similar mine tunnel episode too)

I just re-watched this episode, and I saw that face too! It is creepy. I thought the "costume" of the Miner was a little blank/boring, but that's kind of the point, that it's an old creepy guy. My favorite part is the classic thunderstorm with lightning, and when the lightning glows on and off, the Miner appeared, then disappeared, then re-appeared.
