It can in fact, it often comes down to them not having the rights for one reason or another. That's why only 15 episodes from "The New Scooby-Doo Movies" were released I think, actually I'm quite sure.

but the question is, why doesn't whoever has the rights agrees to get it on dvd.

I think the problem might be getting the rights from all of the people in the episode, and I think that sometimes they just won't for what ever reason. I read something like that about The Addams Family episode of The New Scooby-Doo Movies.

but if the people who own the rights with the addams family don't want the episode to come out on dvd, why have they even agreed to the scooby producer, that they could make the episode? isn't that just plain stupid?

Yeah, that's what I mean, I don't really know but I think that there are so many technicalities involved with some series/episodes.

MGM owns the rights to the Addams Family{at least the old tv series} which explains why it wasn't on the "Best Of" DVD. I think it was owned by someone else back when they made the episode though.

well, then the question is, why the now-owners don't want it on dvd. technically, the... scooby-owners... would just have to ask for the permission to put it on dvd and i really don't see any reason for the addams family owner to say no.

I agree with you. But I think WB would have to pay a pretty hefty fee{I know WB would have to pay MGM money of some kind} to be able put on there and maybe WB just didn't want to do that.

I think that there are several technicalities that we just can't see and are too complicated for us. But I do thinki that some of our suggestions could be right.

I think so too.

I'm sure it also doesn't help that Hanna Barbera originally owned the rights to the shows and then WB took over. It would be nice if everyone would just agree to put the shows on DVD.
