I guess the question now is will they produce the Road Trip and Miskatonic University... ?

SPOILERS
Wow Not the ending I expected at all. The great cosmic reset button was not only pressed, but kept unreversed... I'm sure that would have led to some (active) conversations about overall scooby mythos continuity with some argumentative folk. {eyeroll}
I'm very happy with the series as a whole and wait hopefully for a complete series set preferably on blu-ray (the soccer mom dvd editions of the first half of season 1 do not do it justice)

I also kind of win: It never happened: Newhart Ending. Due to a Timeline shift instead of a Dream, but, close!

Okay, have we heard of MU before? Clearly the characters know of its esteem, but all that means nothing to the viewer.Scratch that...here's an explanation. Harlan Ellison: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlan_EllisonMiskatonic University: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miskatonic_UniversityI'm more than satisfied with the ending. Note the credit roll, the locket background replaced with the blue, green and orange flower power we're used to. I'll be interested to see what the theme was that was used for the ending.

I got my time travel and never happened crud... blah! oh well. It was a better ending than I had actually expected. Maybe they will run into the Warehouse 13 crew sometime soon!

Well, since they are headed to the great NE, they're running smack dab into... Collisport country! lol.

Loved the stuff about Miskatonic, and the gang's reaction to everything. I so want that road trip and Miskatonic University. Professor Hatecraft would have to be there too, so that's even more reason to want it.
I found the ending pretty satisfying, and hopefully I can post something more intelligent after I stop bouncing off the walls. LOL

I hope they don't try to turn it into Dr Who or Sliders if they move forward with this.

LMAO Well, the Mystery Machine does sometimes seem to be bigger on the inside. Does this explain why Harlan Ellison said in Shrieking Madness that he's the only author of importance for the last twenty years? He is a genius!

This ending was unexpected I really wish they were able to do a spinoff or another season and my little brother and sister agreed. It was perfect(although I kind of wish they didn't retcon everything just like that).

technically this is not a retcon but an alternate universe. so in the end they pulled a back to the future, by changing an event- ie destroying the evil- they created an alternate timeline unaffected by the evil, while retaining thier memories of what they had done. and apparently, wre not the only ones who did.

OK, that was interesting. I was expecting some kind of time travel/alternate reality type thing, and that ending was perfect. So I guess this would techincally make SD:MI a prequel to the original series? Or at least that's how I took it.
