Agreed! It really was an awesome movie and I believe it honestly has a better re-watch value than Witch's Ghost. In fact I feel like Witch's Ghost only has the slightest edge over Alien Invaders, if that. I'm so biased that it's hard for me to let my love of Tress MacNeille as Sarah go and judge both movies purely on principle and quality. Overall, Alien Invaders got watched in my house way more than Witch's Ghost. Ah, that makes sense! I love Tress MacNeille. I know I'd probably watch something more often if it had one of favorite actors/actresses! The "retro" films from 2003 were a step-back in quality, but they gain such a huge advantage just because they brought back Nicole Jaffe, Heather North, and Casey Kasem.

The return of so many classic VA's does give those movies a bit of an edge but I wouldn't necessarily call it a huge advantage. The original 3 WB movies beat those movies any day in quality. Not to mention that the VA's for the original WB movies were amazing in their own right; it wasn't like replacing Cohn, Lillard and DeLisle with the classics, you know? That might constitute as a huge advantage.

It was also pretty amazing that they brought back Nicole Jaffe 30 years after she retired! She still was perfect in the role! I would've loved for them to have continued with the series like Casey Kasem did. I wonder why they didn't? It's such a shame they were replaced again after that reunion... I agree, that if they were to replace the current cast, that would bring a huge advantage. I would stick with the series just to listen to Heather's perfect Daphne voice.

I agree; sometimes all it takes is the right voice. I think that's what draws me to most of my favorite cartoons and cartoon characters is whether or not the voice fits the character/series. Many of my favorite stand-out, one-time characters for Scooby-Doo are favorites simply because their VA's were just amazing! Mark Hamill was absolutely perfect for the role of Snakebite Scruggs, as was Steve Blum for Rufus Raucous. And I don't think I even have to mention Vincent Price as Vincent Van Ghoul. Sometimes a good voice is all you need.

A person and their voice are synonymous, I grew up in the county of Kent so I speak with a southern English accent and people know that is how I speak, if I turned up for work one morning suddenly speaking like a native of Newcastle of Plymouth (the latter I do occasionally to wind-up my wife) then people would find it most disconcerting. An analogy would be hearing the live version of some music before the studio version, they will be very different, not wrong (with the odd exception).
With VA's I suppose it is partly who you were first exposed to in a meaningful, while I grew up watching Scooby Doo as a kid I did my 'serious' watching with What's New and the movies of that era so for me Mindy 'is' Velma, Grey 'is' Daphne etc so when I hear the character voiced by someone else I first notice the difference, if, after a while I no longer notice the difference then and you're in the flow of the move then the VA's and writes have done their job.

Wow, this movie could even be better than Moon Monster Madness now that I've watched both. Sure MMM has updated animation and cool spaceship stations but this movie was really fun and enjoyable! I liked the gang in this one! (In MMM they are so utterly seperated and their behavior doesn't match a team in every scene but in Alien Invaders I enjoyed the jokes they were making and even with Shaggy running after Crystal, they still were more united). First thing I noticed was different clothes. At first I thought it was pyjamas because Velma, Daphne and Freddy appeared to try for some sleep at the back of the Mystery Machine and Shaggy and Scooby were the same. But through the movie I realized the shorts for the girls were there to stay. Summer clothes, of course the heat was higher in this movie. Same as the danger!! Those aliens were real creeps! I've grown up with an avid interest in extraterrestrials. After all, even Velma approves, life in other planets is a possibility. So I liked this movie and I was moved by Crystal and Amber and their relationship with Shaggy and Scooby, it was so sad to see them goodbye... They seemed so meant to be that at some point I thought the aliens that "examined" poor Shag and Scoob had made their opposite gender complete matchnig robot-aliens to lure them into something... I loved the "The Aliens Are Here" track!! <3

Lester is awesome. "I got pictures!" Haha. What's PG about this movie? Zombie Island is the only movie with decapitation...

What's PG about this movie? Zombie Island is the only movie with decapitation... Probably the idea of aliens in general. This world is very touchy and sensitive, way more than it used to be, and I'm sure that rating is there for parents who don't want to expose their kids to that.

Right. Conspiracy theories and false government authorities. That is pretty heavy.
Oddly, the only Scooby movie I couldn't watch as a kid was Witch's Ghost. My mother didn't like the Wicca theme.

Odd, my DVD says it is a U certificate, Zombie Island is a PG as is Moon Madness, Blue Falcon, Big Top and about half of the DVD's I could find on my shelves (note to self, filing DVD's all under D for disk doesn't help searching).

Weird. I think Reluctant Werewolf is PG in Canada because Dracula shoots a gun.
Oh,the aliens experiment on Shaggy and Scooby. That is actually kind of intense. Most Scooby Doo is unrated in the USA and is Y7 on TV. 7 years and older recommended AFAIK. Sometimes you have to be older than 17 to buy Scooby Doo online because it's "unrated" haha. I've literally ran across that before at Walmart.com or somewhere.

I tried ordering one of the Scooby DVDs off of Walmart.com a while ago and got a prompt that I couldn't buy it unless I was over 17.

Just rewatched this today and the thing that always bothered me is how the gang, mainly Fred, treated Lester as though he was totally insane. Sure the guy came off as a little weird but after the events of Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost you'd think they'd be a little more open to the idea of aliens.

The film where Scooby and Shaggy were given certain treatment. This was an overall lighter movie, but it's the subtlety that made it just as dark as the previous two (in forms of how immoral humans can be).
