What did you think of this bonus episode that was on the "Scooby-Doo! Laff-A-Lympics: Spooky Games" DVD?

I knew it would be great before I watched it. I loved every second of it. It couldn't have been better. It was like a mini movie with the animation style, introduction and such. There were a lot of suspects.

Just finished watching, and it was really good. As laescoobyfan said, kinda like a mini-DVD movie, with the funny little 'gang as kids' cartoon for the opening credits and the style and pace of the story. The animation style was almost a cross between the current movies and WNSD maybe. A pretty good villain too. It crams a lot of different story elements into 22 minutes and does it very well. The sub-story about Shaggy being an games runner and believing in himself was a little like Phantosaur, and also provided a novel way of getting the Gang into the middle of a new mystery.
I hope they keep making these!

The villain reminded me of the the villain from "What's New" episode "Gold Paw" because they are almost the exact same color. And you're right, there were a lot of elements- Fred lying about being a pole vaulter because he was jealous of Steve, who Daphne had a crush on, Shaggy competing for the gold and Scooby being his coach. It was a really neat episode. There is suppose to be another bonus episode on the "Scooby-Doo! 13 Spooky Tales: Holiday Chills and Thrills" DVD, so I have a feeling this might be the new trend for a while. And is it just me, or does anyone else sense a possible new series coming on after Mystery Incorporated, with the animation style, etc. like this episode?

Yep. Actually one thing I'm growing a little tired of...now that you mention it...is Daphne always having a crush and Fred acting jealous. It's getting a bit old. (course I guess it was Velma in Phantosaur)
This could be a new series idea, or...if they truly perceive that SD:MI didn't do well enough...this may be the kind of thing they'll do instead of a complete series. Time will tell I guess.

(course I guess it was Velma in Phantosaur) Fred being jealous of Daphne's crush isn't really starting to get old for me. Fred likes Daphne, and he doesn't want to see her with another guy, which, I think that is great, but it also isn't something I want to see every time either. And you're right, it was Velma who had the crush in Phantosaur. Also in Abracadabra-Doo, Fred is the one who had the crush.. on Crystal, Whirlen Merlin's assistant. So, Daphne isn't the only one.

What did you mean when you said "...this may be the kind of thing they'll do instead of a complete series"?, that they may just release epsiodes one at a time on DVDs? Yes. More like 'mini-movies' coming out once or twice a year rather a new complete 26 episode traditional series. I've read that Cartoon Network claims SD:MI hasn't received the viewer ratings they wanted...though that would be partly their own fault for messing around with its schedule so much...so Warner could be experimenting with new ways of producing new Scooby shows. That's just speculation on my part though. Mark

If that is the case with the ratings, it wouldn't surprise me. CN's delays and WB, I think not being ready with episodes (and it is fine with me if they take their time, but I think they should have started the show later), would have contributed to low ratings. SDMI isn't my favorite series anyway. I don't care for the character design. And I like things to be simpler, such as in Where Are You, The Scooby-Doo Show, What's New, and now these new episodes. I am going to go ahead and make a prediction, that after Mystery Incorporated ends, there will be a new series with episodes like "Spooky Games". I hope there will be!

It was a good episode with a cool villain, although I am also getting tired though of Fred being jealous of Daphne constantly.
