Okay, I patiently waited for this thread to run cold because I wanted to see if anyone would've noticed, and none of you who posted didn't: Why didn't Scooby or Shaggy eat any of the Sheriff's food he had cooked? Man, it must've been really serious for the gang to have had those problems, wasn't it? Scooby and Shaggy never ignore food that's lying around! They. Just. Don't.

Hmm. That was odd. I rewatched most of it tonight before Howl of the Fright Hound. They didn't even seem to think about it.
Watching a 2nd time, I also thought the competition between the Humungonauts mirrored Velma and Scooby's a little bit.

Wow, I didn't even notice that. The food Scooby or Shaggy wasted, or the competition between the Humungonauts? I'm not quite clear... ;D

I don't think even Scooby and Velma wouldn't resort to some sort of physical confrontation over Shaggy, minor or not. ;D Those two Humugo dudes had a real hate for one another, which is really tragic (the brother angle). Scooby and Velma just had a competition of sorts for Shaggy (which was settled for now in the next ep).

hahaha, same. I think it's because we were to busy focusing on the love triangle thing than Shaggy and Scooby's love of food.

I don't think even Scooby and Velma wouldn't resort to some sort of physical confrontation over Shaggy, minor or not. ;D Well, that's why I said "a little bit". ;D No seriously, that episode was where Velma & Scooby's competition reached an ultimatum. Their arms crossed and backs to each other, forcing the issue. They didn't come to blows but I think it was the most intense their rivalry ever got. I just thought it an unusual coincidence that its 'apex' occurred during an episode featuring 2 people that used to be family before something came between them and a choice was made that changed them forever. A little too serious I know, but I just thought maybe there was a subtle parallel there. Would the same happen to Velma and Scooby, or would they rise above? Then Shaggy pointed to a 3rd humungonaut, who of course wasn't there, but then afterwards neither was Shaggy who was the 3rd in the triangle. Thought there might've been a little allegory of sorts there, but after seeing Fright Hound I'm not so sure. Probably just me overanalyzing things. The producers throw so many neat little background things in each episode you're never quite sure when something is intentional or only coincidence. Mark

You know, considering the few weeks hiatus that occurred right after this episode, I think they should've ended it like this:
Instead of Shaggy pointing to a fake humungonaut and then running when Velma and Scooby told him choose, he should've looked at Velma, looked at Scooby, looked straight at the camera at us and then.......
To Be Continued.....

I loved it especially the cheating bit when Scooby caught Shaggy and Velma in the act and did anyone else see Don Knotts make another cameo? that was cool not to mention the singers song when she was singing live sounded like she was lip syncing to vinyl. Anyway the brother thing was eh. I could see it coming but if i remember correctly the gang did sometimes freak out when they reveal who the villain was.

I liked this episode. The villains were cool, and the whole competition between Scooby and Velma was pretty funny at times. (--> hilarious!! )

This was just a decent episode. It was extremely humorous and the mayor was hilarious as always. Though the mystery was pretty meh. I loved the gang's outfits

Not bad, but not a favorite of mine. It is pretty much just okay. Though I did appreciate the humungonauts were working against each other rather than with each other twist. Since the villains were very obvious, it was a cool twist
