Thought I'd open up a thread to discuss the latest Mystery Incorporated episode "The Creeping Creatures".
So what did you all think? I personally liked it a lot. It was a little creepier than the first one and had a little more story and mystery to it. I thought some of the background stuff was neat too, like the hotel sign lightbulbs fizzing out, revealing an ominous message for Scooby.
Spoiler Alert.......
The only thing that surprised me was that you could easily recognize the villain's in their suits long before they were revealed, and yet the gang acted surprised. Surely the animators knew we'd be able to tell? That was odd, but then again who else was it going to be? I hope future installments leave a little more uncertainty until the end.
So I assume it was Mister E that stole...and then replaced...the engine? Still not sure where that backstory is going to go.
Overall, I liked it though. And the hotel reminded me of some of their classic 'haunted buildings'.

I liked it! The only thing I didn't like was, like ahkyahnan said, that you could easily tell that the gator men were in costumes long before the gang unmasked them.

I really liked the episode, but like ahkyahnan and doo, I didn't like that you could tell who the villains were. I was hoping that when they unmasked them, they would have been some other people and they just made the gators look like the other people, but no, it was them. I hope they do better with the next episode!

Yeah, that was the only thing that disappointed a little. I guess since those were the only 3 suspects possible throughout the episode, it had to be them, but they coulda made it a little less obvious. As soon as I saw that mass of bangs hanging over one gator creatures eyes, I knew it was the son. That had to be intentional on the writers part, but I'm not sure why.
Otherwise I really liked it.
It's really funny how this show is so different and yet echos the original so much at the same time. A really nice balance, and I have a hard time putting my finger on exactly what it is.

The villians were too predictable, but everything else was great. This episode had some really funny moments. "I got a few rules...boys and girls in separate rooms...no exceptions." Velma: "Well, I guess I'm with you, Daphne." "I said, NO EXCEPTIONS!"

A bit of trivia.
The "Series Guide" lists Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas as the writers of "The Creeping Creatures".
They also wrote "Scooby-Doo in Pirates Ahoy!" (along with Margaret M. Dean who also produced).

liking this new series a lot. This episode was one of the best i've seen , my only qualms were the lack of suspects in the town and Fred's obliviousnesss to Daphne but i'm sure as the series progresses we'll see more and more improvements. I have to say the actual gator creatures were alot scarier than previous scooby villains which is good to see and the writers are actually showing what the gang do when there isn't a mystery happening, i enjoyed seeing how bored the gang were with all their free time. In recent incarnations they seemed desparate for a break from mysteries while here they can't wait for the next one.

Did the Gang's parents seem a little bit too lazy? And what the heck is Still Life Night? Lol.

I liked it. Well, i too did notice that the costumes were a bit presumptuous but then again it was showing homage to the original series (1969), i also was thinking what on earth Shaggy's parents were doing and why was she painting just the grapes and not her hubby? !!!!. The parents were lazy and i was suprised by how much Shaggy's parents seem to disown him as a son...did anyone else notice this?
