Now this was when the show jumped the shark for me. I just don't like it when they make a whole TV series just for showing adult cartoon characters as children. The writers can just use flashbacks if they want to show us what the character's childhood was like.

PNSD was my gateway Scooby verse, along with 13 Ghosts as an 80's kid. So it kinda was an interesting way to end up getting to know the franchise.
But as an adult, I enjoy the fact that Pup exists. Especially in my writing. Pup to me, is exaggerated because it's through the eyes of kids. So this is their imperfect memory of the crazy things that happen when they first started solving mysteries in their home town.
And I actually like the flaws that they gave most of the characters in pup. Though Shaggy and Scooby really didn't change much.
Fred, oh how I like dorky, alien loving, rumor monger Fred. His over active imagination and crazy machinations are great. He's a little kid, and that is how little kids think. So I like that he was a bit intense as a kid, which then helps play with him as an adult. Making sure he never puts his gang in danger again like that. And a bit afraid to be a bit more childish (unless the rest of the gang is joining in) because he was TOO childish as a kid. So when you look at Pup has backstory, and then see how he was as a teen in SDWAY, and then young adults in some DTV's. You get the current, in my stories, Fred. So it really gives his character a lot more to work with.
Daphne, the little perfect princess. While she didn't change much, they over exaggerated her love for fashion and not getting dirty. I like ts for later, because it shows how she might have been as a kid, to then teen in SDWAY while she still enjoys looking nice, but doesn't complain past the initial "My outfit" sulk and then moves on to solve the mystery. Because of her younger, self had to deal with constantly being put out of her comfort zone, by teen years, it's mostly habit that she complains. I mean, she still wants to look her best, but the mystery is more important.
Velma. Little blurry feets Velma. Her pup version is a favorite. Since she is all cute and quiet, but then can look majorly intense when she's on her skateboard. I loved the duality of it, and it showed that her personality ran deeper then the quiet side she showed most of the world. Also probably the influence with being friends with Shaggy and Fred. And I have seen young kids like her, who look at the world wide eyed, and want to figure out how everything works. I see young version of her, flicking on light switches on and off, just to figure out why it was getting dark and light, or poking electronics to see what did which. By teen years, she probably was just getting out of the "I take everything apart" stage, and was skilled enough to re-assembled and repair most things she took apart.
So yeah, looking at it as a stand alone, crazy Tex Avery style cartooning. With random silly chase scenes and goofy looking monsters. (And Red Herring <3) then yeah, I can understand being disappointing. But it's still fun bit of the franchise, and was great for kids. I am as much of a Scooby fan as I am, due to growing up with Pup coming out to watch, 13 ghosts coming out, and reruns of classic older Scoobys. So 5 year old me, loved Pup and still enjoys it today. I do prefer the core SDWAY alot better, but it's not a bad series. And like someone said, it's better then some other versions.

I absolutely love this series. As a kid I loved how much humor it had. It was over exaggerated and funny and wacky. Loved the treehouse

Hi! Know I'm new here, but wanted to say that I just finished watching the whole series, for my Scoobyverse binge, and I really enjoy it still. My sister and I would watch reruns of it all the time as kids, and I think it's still a fun little romp of a show. The kids version of the gang are adorable, especially Scooby, and overall, I think it's a cute entry that's really fun, and funny, with great music to boot. A solid 8/10.

My two cents for A Pup Named Scooby Doo is that this show holds up bafflingly well, especially compared to other shows about cartoon characters as kids (I actually haven't seen any of it, but I've heard that Yo Yogi is the worst of them). I maintain that this is the funniest Scooby Doo series ever made, period, and it really isn't even close. Granted, a lot of the humor relies on running gags, but I never get sick of them at all throughout the entire series, as opposed to another popular choice Be Cool, where some of Daphne's gags get a little old for me after a while, even though I do greatly appreciate the effort, and success I might add, of giving Daphne some more character. They can get a little too over-the-top for me though in an otherwise pretty normal Scooby series. However, in this series with the changeup in the format, zaniness is all over the place as one of the biggest aspects of the entire series, and it is a blast. Overall, as much as I love dark Scooby like Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, Camp Scare, season 2 of TSDS, and SDMI, there is a time and place for lighthearted Scooby Doo for me, and for that this series is exceptional. This one comes in at number 5 in my series ranking just ahead of SDMI (I feel like I am probably the only person who actually likes SDMI and has it behind A Pup lol), and behind the classic 3 series and What's New

I liked this series a lot. Its theme song is probably the one that gets stuck in my head most often, and it has one of my favorite Velmas.

Quoting this to say yeah I have the same exact opinion basically. I just finished watching it all again for my chronological run through, and it's a fun show. It's just really cute and enjoyable. After scoring every episode per season, I would rank the seasons like this: Season 2: 8.43 Season 1: 8.12 Season 3: 8.11 With a total show average of 8.22. Just a really cute, fun, enjoyable show. Now, on to Mystery Incorporated.
