I think it's easy to say that WB never gets the press or credit that Disney does.
Scooby's direct releases have been great, at least half of them could have done well theatrically.
I was wondering if anyone knows if there's material for Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, Alien Invaders, and Legend Of The Vampire to be finished in Widescreen without recropping them and cutting off what the artists intended for us to see.
It just never works well, look at DragonBall Z, DBZ In Widescreen did not work!
However, later, they went back and redrew the DBZ for HD. I wonder if the masters for these movies might have been WS, though they were targeted for 4:3, WS TV's were already on the market by then.

I went back looking. Sadly, it seems the above movies weren't produced in WS. However, consulting MOOK Animation might yield a different answer i've heard.
I was scrolling through the Wikipedia and found that every movie since Where's My Mummy and up to Abracadabradoo were Produced in WS but released in Full Frame. So, those Bluray's should yield WS with original direction.
That's Where's My Mummy Pirate's Ahoy! Chill Out, Scooby Doo! Goblin King Samurai Sword Abracadabradoo.
That's not exactly a list of title's i need to buy again, except for Chill Out.
Since they are fantastic, i'd love to see WB pay MOOK to go back and remaster/redraw in WS the first 4 they did.

Hey, the HD rental for $3.99 on Amazon HD of Chill Out, Scooby Doo! IS indeed HD in true Widescreen, not cropped blurry crud. Looks great!

Just rented Legend of the Vampire in HD on Amazon as well. That is 16x9 from an original widescreen source as well, which up till now was undocumented.,

Everything Legwnd of The Vampire onwards should be widescreen, including What's New Scooby Doo(not 100% positive on that one).

So Monster of Mexico and Where's My Mummy also are in WS, nice. Now if only Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost are/were. Hoping Alien Invaders is as well. Cyberchase was not, have that BD already.
Thanks again SS!

Everything Legwnd of The Vampire onwards should be widescreen, including What's New Scooby Doo(not 100% positive on that one). I would buy the WNSD series over again in native widescreen, but not if they cropped it. I'm seeing stretched and cropped versions of the TV airings of WNSD on my dvr.

Those comparisons are interesting. Thanks. Looks like they drew the frames so it would look good in either format, keeping the essential elements in the center and mostly just expanded background in the outer edges. So if someone didn't have widescreen they wouldn't really miss anything... Except the tip of Scoobs tail in that one. Mark

Yeah, they mastered these in WS and then Pan and Scanned for 4:3 presentations. There is both some zoom and positioning on the Yowie Yahoo, on Mummy you can detect it maybe WS native from the 4:3 by way that Scooby's tail is cutoff, looking at the WS frame reveals they didn't zoom but they had to slide the frame over significantly to the right, which blows because if something were to enter from the left and the director MEANT it to be seen, it's completely lost or they have to switch and zoom in on it loosing any reaction the gang would have to it. BUT, I agree it seems they are WS Native but drawn with a narrower frame in mind, which is good for us. The WS Versions will just be prettier. This MoM shot is a no brainer to reframe, they just boosted the gamma a notch to bring out darker details. That's a very dark scene, so it doesn't affect it poorly.
